Court Appearance Details
Renowned Haryanvi artist Sapna Choudhary made a voluntary appearance in a Lucknow court on September 19th, responding to an arrest warrant previously issued
against her in August. This legal action is a consequence of an incident that transpired back in October 2018. The court appearance was necessitated by allegations of cheating, specifically concerning her failure to perform at a scheduled event despite receiving advance payment. She was presented before the ACJM court in Lucknow to address these serious accusations which have now culminated in her surrender.
The 2018 Event Controversy
The core of Sapna Choudhary's current legal predicament lies in an event organized for October 13, 2018. Reports indicate that tickets for this performance were sold both online and offline at a price of ₹300 each. Thousands of attendees reportedly gathered at the venue, anticipating the performance, but Sapna Choudhary did not appear. This absence led to significant unrest among the disappointed crowd, who also complained about the non-refund of their ticket money. Furthermore, allegations suggest that Choudhary had received a substantial advance payment, reportedly in lakhs, but failed to fulfill her contractual obligation to perform.
Previous Accusations Detailed
This is not the first instance where Sapna Choudhary has faced accusations of fraudulent behavior and breach of trust. Notably, in February 2021, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Delhi Police initiated a case against her. This earlier case was filed based on a complaint by a celebrity management company that had been managing Choudhary's affairs. The company accused her, along with her mother and brother, of various offenses including criminal breach of trust, criminal conspiracy, cheating, and misappropriation of funds. These past allegations highlight a pattern of legal challenges related to financial and contractual disputes.
