The Ministry of Railways is set to launch the Nagercoil-Charlapalli Amrit Bharat Express, a new train service aimed at significantly improving travel links
between these two significant locations. This new Amrit Bharat Express train embarks on a noteworthy journey that traverses through three diverse Indian states: Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. Its route is carefully planned to connect Nagercoil with Charlapalli, passing through several key intermediate stations. Notably, the train will make stops in important cities and towns such as Tirunelveli and Kovilpatti in Tamil Nadu, and Nellore in Andhra Pradesh, before reaching its destination in Telangana. This strategic routing ensures that a substantial number of passengers from various regions along the path will benefit from direct connectivity, streamlining travel and reducing the need for multiple changes.

The Nagercoil-Charlapalli Amrit Bharat Express has received its official approval on March 5, 2026, as confirmed by A Sridhar, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of South Central Railway. The train is tentatively scheduled to commence its passenger services shortly thereafter, with operations slated to begin on March 11, 2026. This announcement follows the successful operation of three pairs of Amrit Bharat non-AC services already running in Telangana, which are designed to offer comfort and economy for long-distance travel. The introduction of this new service marks another step in expanding the Amrit Bharat network.
Extensive Stoppage Network
During its extensive journey from Nagercoil to Charlapalli, the Amrit Bharat Express will provide convenient access at a remarkable 30 different stations. This comprehensive list of stoppages ensures that the train serves a wide geographical area, catering to numerous towns and cities. Key halts include Valliyur, Tirunelveli, Kovilpatti, Satur, Virudunagar, Madurai, Dindigul, Tiruchchirappalli, Thanjavur, Papanasam, Kumbakonam, Mayiladuturai, Sirkazhi, Chidambaram, Tirupadripulyur, Villupuram, Chengalpattu, Tambaram, and Chennai Egmore in Tamil Nadu. Further south, it will stop at Sullurupeta, Nayadupeta, Nellore, Ongole, Chirala, Bapatla, Tenali, Guntur, Sattenapalle, Miryalaguda, and Nalgonda, connecting passengers across multiple districts and regions.
Frequency and Coaches
The Nagercoil-Charlapalli Amrit Bharat Express is planned to operate as a weekly service, offering a consistent travel option on a specific day each week. Specifically, the train is set to depart from Nagercoil every Thursday, providing a reliable schedule for passengers planning their travel in advance. In terms of its composition, the train will feature a mix of Sleeper Class and General Second Class coaches.
