What is the story about?
Ranbir Kapoor’s upcoming film Ramayana: Part 1 is drawing attention ahead of its November 5 release. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film features Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana and Sunny Deol as Hanuman, with music by A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer.
As the film gears up for its release, attention is turning to whether the retelling of the epic can translate its pre-release buzz into a major box-office opening.
According to Sacnilk, Ramayana: Part 1 had earned ₹11.92 crore in advance bookings across India as of 3 pm on October 25, with around 2.17 lakh tickets sold across 157 cities and 4,720 shows. Excluding block bookings, the advance gross stands at ₹9.70 crore, with 10 days remaining before the film reaches theatres. The occupancy stands at 20%, while six shows are listed as house full.
Ramayana: Rise of a Legend is planned as a two-part cinematic adaptation of the Hindu epic. The first instalment is scheduled to release in theatres on November 5, while the second part is expected to arrive in 2027.
Which cities are leading Ramayana advance booking?
The National Capital Region (NCR) is currently leading the advance booking figures, generating ₹2.37 crore from 31,235 tickets. Mumbai follows with ₹1.79 crore from 25,528 tickets, while Bengaluru has recorded ₹1.59 crore from 22,836 tickets.
Hyderabad has contributed ₹75.59 lakh through 21,220 tickets, while Pune has registered ₹52.27 lakh from 7,406 tickets.
Ramayana worldwide advance booking crosses $2 million
The film has also reported strong early interest in international markets. According to Sacnilk, Ramayana: Part 1 has crossed the $2 million mark in worldwide advance bookings, combining reservations for preview screenings on November 4 with opening-day bookings for November 5.
The total stands at approximately 2.25 lakh tickets across India and tracked overseas markets, generating around ₹20.50 crore in advance gross.
Ramayana advance booking compared with Dhurandhar 2
Ramayana: Part 1 has also moved marginally ahead of Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar: The Revenge in BookMyShow advance ticket sales at the comparable 10-days-before-release checkpoint.
According to Sacnilk, Ramayana had sold approximately 1.42 lakh tickets, compared with around 1.39 lakh for Dhurandhar 2 at the same stage. However, the comparison comes with an important distinction.
Ramayana began advance bookings on October 20 for its November 5 release, while Dhurandhar 2 initially opened paid-preview bookings on March 7 ahead of its March 19 theatrical debut. This means the two films had different booking windows, making their sales figures difficult to compare directly.
