Indian films and series generated 688 million views on Netflix in the first six months of 2026, making it a record-breaking half-year for content from the country on the OTT platform, the streamer said in its new report on Friday.
The report, titled "What We Watched" and covering the January-June 2026 period, said India emerged as the biggest contributor to non-English film viewing on Netflix and ranked third globally in overall film viewing, behind only the US and the UK.
Four Indian films -- the Ranveer Singh-led "Dhurandhar", courtroom drama "Accused", Tamil title "Made in Korea" and Yash Raj Films' cop thriller "Mardaani 3", starring Rani Mukerji -- featured in Netflix's Global Top 100 Films list.
"Dhurandhar", a spy thriller directed by Aditya Dhar, emerged as the most-watched Indian film on the platform during the period, registering 37 million views.
Netflix also said five of its original Indian films -- "Accused", "Made in Korea", patriotic action drama "Kartavya", comedy "Maa Behen" and dark comedy "Toaster" -- featured among the Global Top 500 Films.
"Made in Korea" became the first South Indian film to top Netflix's Global Non-English Films chart upon its release.
Indian series also performed strongly across genres, with crime drama "Taskaree: The Smuggler's Web", starring Emraan Hashmi, becoming the country's highest-ranked series on Netflix's Global Top 100 TV list.
It was joined by comedy series "Maamla Legal Hai", talent-based reality show "India's Got Latent", sports drama "Glory", crime thriller "Kohrra" and lifestyle reality series "Desi Bling" in the Global Top 500 TV list.
"The Great Indian Kapil Show", hosted by comedian Kapil Sharma, continued to draw international audiences and became the second most-viewed Indian series on Netflix by viewing hours, the report said.
Netflix said it will continue investing in Indian films, series, unscripted programming and creator-led content as it looks to take more stories from the country to audiences around the world.
