Who Is Pavitr Prabhakar?
Pavitr Prabhakar, alias Spider-Man India, is a spirited teenager who fights crime in the fictional city of Mumbattan — a striking hybrid of Mumbai and Manhattan. He is based on the Spider-Man India comics first published in 2005. The character was originally created in 2004 by Jeevan Kang, Suresh Seetharaman and Sharad Devrajan, and his story mirrors Peter Parker's but with a distinctly Indian twist.
Pavitr crossed over from print to animation with his appearance in Sony Pictures' Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. In the film, he studies at Mumbattan Visions Academy and eventually joins Miguel O'Hara's Spider-Society, later teaming up with Gwen Stacy, Hobie Brown and Miles Morales against the multiversal villain, the Spot.
