What is the story about?
Hanuman Ansh has just become the highest-grossing Hindi film ever in its fifth week of release, beating past benchmarks set by Dhurandhar, a remarkable feat for a movie made on a shoestring budget of around ₹2 crore. The film's run has broken seven major box office records overall, including the highest-ever fifth Friday and fifth weekend collections for a Hindi film.
The devotional drama, based on the early life of Neem Karoli Baba, has crossed the ₹150 crore mark in India net collections, with its total standing at ₹153.13 crore after 34 days in theatres. On day 34 alone, the film earned ₹10.25 crore, a slight 4.7% dip from the ₹10.75 crore it collected the previous day, according to data tracked by Sacnilk. Its gross collection in India has now reached ₹180.95 crore.
Of the film's ₹153.13 crore net haul, a staggering ₹80.25 crore arrived in the fifth week alone, in just six days. Previous fifth-week benchmarks were held by Dhurandhar and Uri: The Surgical Strike, but Hanuman Ansh shattered those milestones on the back of massive organic word-of-mouth growth.
The film opened to just ₹1.08 crore in its first week and dropped further to ₹40 lakh in its second. Then in week three, it minted ₹10.40 crore, ₹61 crore in week four, and finally the record-breaking ₹80.25 crore in week five. Made on a reported budget of around ₹2 crore, the film has now returned close to 90 times its original investment, making it one of the highest-ROI films in Hindi cinema.
The film's single biggest day came on its fifth Sunday, when it earned ₹22.75 crore, this despite fresh competition from the newly released Mirzapur: The Movie , only marginally ahead of the five-week-old Hanuman Ansh.
