What is the story about?
The much-awaited spiritual sequel to the 2012 film Cocktail has hit the theatres on Friday, June 19. Headlined by Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Rashmika Mandanna, the film opened to mixed reactions from the audiences and critics. Despite mixed reviews, the film managed to perform decently at the box office on the opening day.
According to Sacnilk reports, Cocktail 2 secured ₹13.50 crore net on day 1 at the box office, pushing the total India gross collection to ₹16.20 crore. Overseas, the film managed to secure a decent collection of ₹4 crore. With this, the film’s total worldwide gross collection stands at ₹20.20 crore.
While the weekend is likely to attract a larger audience and drive higher collections, Monday’s performance is going to be a key indicator of Cocktail 2’s long-term box office collection. Additionally, since no other major Bollywood releases are hitting the theatres this week, the Shahid Kapoor-starrer film is going to benefit from minimal competition. However, ahead of the film’s release, Cocktail 2 had been given an Adult (A) certificate by the CBFC, which may impact the film’s performance at the box office.
