What is the story about?
Karavali is one of the most-awaited Kannada films of 2026. Ever since the announcement of Raj B Shetty in the lead role, fans have been eager to see the actor dominate the screens. The makers have finally announced its release date, ending months of anticipation.
Presented by KVN Productions, the film is all set to hit the theatres on July 24.
Announcing the same, the actor took to his Instagram handle and dropped a teaser of the film with the caption, “My next film as an actor, KARAVALI. Releasing this 24th July. We are so excited to show this work.”
The upcoming film introduces Raj B Shetty as Maveera. In an earlier shared poster, the actor appears in a powerful avatar reminiscent of a Kambala contestant, kneeling on the ground with determination in his eyes.
Gurudatha Ganiga, who directed the film, earlier revealed that casting the role of Maveera was a challenging process.
In a media interaction, he said, “Initially, there was no plan for who would play Maveera. We approached many actors. But we needed someone who understood the intensity and sentiment of that culture. Raj B Shetty is the right choice for that.”
Raj was unable to commit to the project initially due to scheduling constraints. However, after watching a few shots from the film, the actor agreed to come on board.
About Karavali
Made under the direction of Gurudatha Ganiga, Karavali features a multi-layered narrative that explores local customs and human-animal conflicts. It also revolves around the world of Kambala, the region’s traditional buffalo race that remains an integral part of its cultural identity.

Set against the raw, untamed beauty of coastal Karnataka, Karavali is expected to offer an immersive cinematic experience while highlighting the region’s rich heritage and traditions.
Besides Raj B. Shetty, the film also brings together an ensemble cast of talented actors including Prajwal Devaraj, Mithra, Sampada, Govinde Gowda and Ramesh Indira as lead characters. The music has been composed by Sachin Basrur.
