What is the story about?
Nayanthara is all set to return in her divine avatar in Mookuthi Amman 2. The makers have unveiled the film’s trailer, giving viewers a glimpse of the mythological action drama, with Nayanthara playing goddess Mahasakthi and Regina Cassandra taking on the role of the antagonist.
Directed by Sundar C, Mookuthi Amman 2 - World of Mahasakthi is scheduled to release in theatres on November 6, during the Diwali season. The upcoming film is a sequel to the 2020 release and takes the story in a more action-packed mythological direction.
World Of Mahasakthi trailer shows a battle between good and evil
Unlike the first film, which combined comedy with social commentary on superstition and godmen, the sequel appears to focus on a larger conflict between divine and demonic forces. The trailer features Nayanthara as goddess Mahasakthi, who faces a powerful antagonist played by Regina Cassandra.
Regina’s character appears to be a witch attempting to awaken demonic powers and challenge the gods. The nearly three-minute trailer features supernatural settings, visual effects and action sequences, setting the stage for a battle between the forces of good and evil.
Nayanthara appears in two roles
The trailer begins with scenes from the past, showing two opposing forces preparing for a confrontation. The story then shifts to the present, where a similar conflict appears to be unfolding. A police constable finds herself caught up in events beyond her understanding as the situation takes an unexpected turn.
Nayanthara appears to play two characters: the goddess Mahasakthi and a modern-day woman who seems to be her earthly counterpart. The trailer offers glimpses of both roles but does not reveal how their stories connect. Towards the end, the trailer also hints at the arrival of more divine figures, although their identities and roles remain unclear.
