What is the story about?
Indian fans of Christopher Nolan are in for a treat. The Oscar-winning director, best known for films such as Oppenheimer, Tenet, Interstellar, and Inception, is set to come to Mumbai next month for the India premiere of his highly anticipated action-fantasy epic, The Odyssey, ahead of its theatrical release on July 17. This will mark the first time a Nolan film will have an official premiere in the country.
Universal Pictures International announced that Mumbai has been selected as one of the official stops of
The Odyssey’s global premiere tour, alongside cities like London, Paris and New York. Joining the acclaimed filmmaker on the tour will be actors Matt Damon and Tom Holland, along with Academy Award-winning producer Emma Thomas.
The premiere will be held at PVR IconIMAX at Phoenix Palladium in Mumbai ahead of the film’s worldwide theatrical release. The date for the premiere is yet to be announced by the film studio.
The visit is expected to be one of the biggest Hollywood promotional events hosted in India in recent years. For Nolan, whose films have always enjoyed immense popularity among Indian viewers, it will be his first-ever appearance at a film premiere in the country.

The film stars Matt Damon as Odysseus, Tom Holland as Telemachus, Odysseus's son, Anne Hathaway as Penelope, Odysseus's wife, Robert Pattinson as Antinous, a sleazy suitor of Penelope, Lupita Nyong’o in a dual role as Helen of Troy and Clytemnestra, Samantha Morton as Circe, a witch and goddess from the island of Aeaea, Zendaya as Athena, the goddess of wisdom, warfare, and handicraft and Charlize Theron as Calypso, a nymph from the island of Ogygia, and is produced by Emma Thomas and Christopher Nolan for their company, Syncopy.
The Odyssey has already generated significant buzz for its production scale. Shot across various locations around the world, it has become the first feature film to be shot entirely using IMAX cameras, with brand-new IMAX film technology.
