What is the story about?
The much-awaited trailer of Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana has once again leaked online, this time following its exclusive screening at San Diego Comic-Con 2026. The trailer, originally scheduled to release digitally on July 24, was postponed hours before its planned launch.
Producer Namit Malhotra later announced that the makers had decided to unveil the trailer globally at a later date as part of a major collaboration with Sony Pictures Entertainment.
Then, footage from theComic-Con presentation found its way onto social media. Several short clips featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash and Rakul Preet Singh have been circulating online. An X user stitched together the leaked snippets into what appears to be a nearly two-minute version of the trailer.
This is not the first-time footage from the film has leaked. The trailer was initially showcased during the Pratham Sankalp event in New Delhi on July 18, after which a few clips surfaced online. More footage emerged following the Comic-Con screening on July 24, leading to another wave of leaks.
While it remains unclear whether the compiled version accurately reflected the final trailer, the repeated leaks have sparked strong reactions online.
“One more video leaked. Now the whole 4min trailer is leaked and available on every social media site.... Hats off to Namit Malhotra, what an outstanding marketing #Ramayana,” read a comment.
Another wrote, “It’s disappointing that a film as big as #Ramayana couldn’t protect its trailer from leaking before the official release. The makers should have had stronger security measures in place. Months of hard work deserve better than an online leak.”
“Another portion of the Ramayana trailer has leaked today, at this point it would be wise to just release the trailer already,” stated an individual.
A user commented, “Namit ji, what’s the need to hold the trailer for so long when people have already leaked half of it?”
Other trailers leaked online
Earlier, an unauthorised version of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey was also shared on X. The high-quality version of the film gathered 2.1 million views in two-and-a-half hours, before the account was suspended.
The second trailer of Avengers Doomsday was also leaked online. While the quality wasn’t 4K, it featured new looks of several characters.
Thalapathy Vijay’s political drama, Jana Nagayan, was stuck with the censors and in a prolonged legal battle for months. During that time, it was even leaked online and as many as 1.2 crore people watched the movie. At least 21 people were arrested in connection with the leak case.
