What is the story about?
Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has allegedly received a threat from individuals claiming to be associated with jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Mumbai Police on Saturday said they were verifying the authenticity of a viral social media post and an audio message linked to the alleged threat.
Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti said the police are examining whether the social media post and voice note are genuine. "We are examining the veracity of the social media post and voice clip," Bharti said, as per PTI.
So far, neither Aamir Khan nor his representatives have filed a formal police complaint.
What the alleged threat said
According to police, the alleged threat was shared through a social media post and an accompanying voice message by two individuals identifying themselves as Arzu Bishnoi and Tyson Bishnoi, who claimed to be associates of Lawrence Bishnoi.
In the message, they accused the actor of promoting ‘love jihad’, apparently referring to Aamir Khan's recent marriage to Gauri Spratt. As per the PTI report, they further warned of consequences for those they alleged were encouraging such behaviour.
The authenticity of the threat has not been independently verified.
The voice message also mentioned the recent case of a 13-year-old girl in Sri Ganganagar district of Rajasthan. The girl was allegedly abducted, trafficked and sexually assaulted. It further warned political leaders against protecting any of the accused in the case.
"I, Aarzoo Bishnoi and Tyson Bishnoi (Lawrence Bishnoi Group), want to say that people like Aamir Khan are promoting what is being called 'Love Jihad' in our country, which is against our culture. We will not tolerate this man, and he will soon be made to face the consequences. This is against Sanatan Dharma and against the nation," the post read, as quoted by NDTV.
"We promise our brothers, sisters, and fellow citizens that whoever promotes such disgraceful acts will be dealt with in our own way. Those who are encouraging this in the name of stardom will be silenced,” it added.

Over the years, several actors, filmmakers and comedians have received threats in incidents allegedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Lawrence Bishnoi and members of his gang have previously been linked to threats against Bollywood actor Salman Khan, reportedly over the 1998 blackbuck poaching case. The dispute later escalated into repeated death threats and the firing incident outside the actor's Mumbai residence in 2024.
Earlier this year, actor Ranveer Singh also allegedly received a threatening voice message.
Meanwhile, filmmaker Rohit Shetty's residence in Mumbai's Juhu area came under attack in February after unidentified gunmen allegedly opened fire outside the property. A social media post, purportedly issued by individuals linked to the Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility and warned of more serious consequences.
Actor Aayush Sharma, Salman Khan's brother-in-law, reportedly received an extortion email demanding money. Bhojpuri actor and singer Pawan Singh also approached police after his manager allegedly received threatening calls from people claiming to be linked to the Bishnoi gang.
In Canada, comedian Kapil Sharma's cafe in Surrey was targeted in multiple firing incidents. Posts circulating on social media, allegedly from individuals associated with the Bishnoi network, claimed responsibility.
