UTS App Sunset
Indian Railways is officially retiring its long-standing Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) mobile application. Starting from March 1st, this app will no
longer facilitate any bookings, including unreserved tickets, platform access passes, or season ticket renewals. This significant move signifies a strategic shift towards centralizing all railway digital services onto a single, comprehensive platform. For a considerable period, the UTS app has been the go-to digital tool for passengers needing to book tickets for suburban commutes and short-distance journeys without reservations. Its discontinuation is a direct result of the introduction and promotion of the new RailOne super app, which is now designated as the primary and sole digital solution for all passengers and their related travel requirements.
Enter RailOne Super App
The newly launched RailOne super app is poised to become Indian Railways' unified digital hub, integrating a wide array of services previously spread across multiple applications. This comprehensive platform supports the booking of both reserved and unreserved train tickets, the issuance of platform tickets, real-time train tracking, PNR status inquiries, journey notifications, in-train food ordering, and direct access to customer support. By consolidating these functionalities into a single, intuitive interface, RailOne is designed to significantly enhance the overall user experience for the millions of daily commuters and travellers who rely on Indian Railways. The aim is to streamline operations, reduce user confusion, and expedite the booking process, making travel planning and execution more convenient.
Seamless User Migration
Railway authorities are strongly encouraging existing users of the UTS app to download the RailOne application well in advance of the March 1st deadline. This proactive step is recommended to prevent any last-minute interruptions in their ticketing services. A key feature of this transition is that passengers will not be required to create an entirely new user account. Instead, they can seamlessly log in to RailOne using their existing credentials from either the UTS app or their IRCTC login details. This user-friendly approach is intended to facilitate a smooth and hassle-free migration, ensuring that passengers can continue accessing their required services without undue complication or a steep learning curve. The unified design of RailOne is expected to benefit not only regular suburban travellers but also infrequent passengers who previously had to manage several different applications for various travel needs.
Digital Payment Incentive
In an effort to encourage passengers to adopt the new RailOne app and promote cashless transactions, Indian Railways is introducing a special incentive. A 3% discount will be offered on all unreserved tickets booked through the RailOne application when payment is made using digital modes. This discount is applicable for transactions completed via Unified Payments Interface (UPI), debit cards, credit cards, net banking, and other approved digital payment methods. This promotional offer is available for a specific period, running from January 14th through July 14th. Railway officials have clarified that this benefit is exclusively for bookings made directly via the RailOne app and will not be extended to any other booking platforms or channels. This initiative marks another stride in Indian Railways' ongoing commitment to digital transformation and enhancing passenger convenience.
