Addressing the Crisis
The Indian government has responded to the disruption caused by IndiGo's flight cancellations by implementing airfare caps. These caps are designed to curb
excessively high prices that airlines might impose, especially during periods of operational difficulties. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and other regulatory bodies will actively monitor airline pricing to ensure compliance with these newly established limits. Refunds and Relief
In addition to price controls, the government has directly instructed IndiGo to prioritize the processing of ticket refunds for affected passengers. The deadline for completing all refunds has been set for December 7. Passengers who experienced disruptions due to cancelled flights were advised to contact IndiGo for their refunds. Special Train Measures
In an attempt to manage the surge of passengers affected by IndiGo's cancellation of flights, the South Central Railway is running special trains. Indian Railways has announced plans to operate over 75 special trains to assist with the increased passenger load. This initiative is designed to provide alternative transportation options for those whose flights have been cancelled.
