Unilateral Move Alleged
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has voiced serious concerns, alleging that the central government is proceeding with the proposed delimitation exercise in a clandestine
manner. He asserts that this significant undertaking is being pushed forward without any prior consultation with not only his party, the DMK, but also with any other political party or state government across the nation. This lack of transparency and engagement has fueled suspicions and intensified opposition, as the Chief Minister feels a crucial democratic process is being bypassed, potentially leading to unfair outcomes for southern states like Tamil Nadu.
Protest Threat Issued
In a direct address to the Union BJP government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, M.K. Stalin declared that while Tamil Nadu's Members of Parliament will participate in the upcoming parliamentary session, any decision that negatively impacts the state or disproportionately enhances the political influence of northern regions will not be accepted passively. He made it clear that Tamil Nadu would not stand idly by in such a scenario. The Chief Minister articulated his resolve to mobilize a formidable statewide protest, indicating that the entire state would grind to a halt, with every family participating in the demonstration. He pledged to lead this massive agitation personally, underscoring the seriousness of the potential consequences if the delimitation exercise proves detrimental to Tamil Nadu's interests.
