This initial jolt was followed by a subsequent seismic activity at 9:21:29 pm IST, originating from a slightly shallower depth of 50 kilometers, as confirmed by the same geological research institution. Fortunately, initial reports indicated no immediate casualties as a result of these significant seismic movements originating in Myanmar.

The NCS provided specific coordinates for this event via X, noting it happened at 04:06:46 IST on March 2nd, 2026, with its epicenter at 22.84°N latitude and 89.01°E longitude, pinpointing its location in Bangladesh. While distinct from the Myanmar earthquake, this earlier event in Bangladesh indicates a period of heightened seismic unrest in the broader region.
