Port Houston experienced a significant increase in container volumes and general cargo in July, marking one of its strongest performances on record. Container volumes rose by 21% compared to July 2024, reaching 392,829 TEUs. Year-to-date, the port has handled 2,562,506 TEUs, up 6% from the previous year. Loaded imports surged by 19%, while loaded exports, primarily resins, increased by 18%. General cargo volumes rose by 10% year-to-date, with steel imports up 41% compared to July 2024. The port's infrastructure growth plan includes the completion of Wharf 7 at Bayport Container Terminal, which will increase vessel capacity and reduce anchor wait time. The Houston Ship Channel Expansion, known as Project 11, received the Environmental Excellence Award for its sustainable design.
