Summer Edition Enhancements
Hyundai's latest offering, the Creta Summer Edition, has been launched in India with a starting price point of Rs 12.06 lakh (ex-showroom). This special
variant builds upon the existing trims, notably the EX and SX, by integrating a more comprehensive suite of features than typically found. While its external appearance largely mirrors the standard Creta, with consistent elements like the 16-inch dual-tone steel wheels on specific trims, the true value lies in the interior and convenience upgrades. This edition aims to provide added appeal and utility for customers seeking a bit more from their compact SUV. It represents Hyundai's strategy to introduce refreshed appeal to its popular models through limited-run, feature-rich versions that cater to evolving consumer preferences in the dynamic Indian automotive landscape. The pricing for the top-tier SX variant touches Rs 17.89 lakh (ex-showroom), indicating a tiered approach to feature inclusion across the Summer Edition lineup.
Feature Additions by Trim
The Creta Summer Edition introduces a progressive set of features, escalating with each trim level. Starting with the EX Summer Edition, drivers gain the convenience of a smart key and push-button ignition, simplifying the start-up process. Moving up to the EX(O) Summer Edition, the enhancements become more significant, encompassing Quad Beam LED Headlamps, LED Tail Lamps, and striking Horizon LED Positioning Lamps and Daytime Running Lights (DRLs). Front and rear LED turn indicators, along with a rear window sunshade and a rear camera with dynamic guidelines, further bolster safety and convenience. For the S(O) and S(O) Knight Summer Edition variants, a practical dashcam is integrated, offering an extra layer of security and recording capability. The SX Summer Edition elevates the experience further by adding a 10.25-inch Multi Display Digital Cluster alongside the dashcam. Finally, the top-tier SX Premium Summer Edition introduces advanced driver-assistance features like a Surround View Monitor (SVM) and a Blind-spot View Monitor (BVM), complemented by front parking sensors for enhanced maneuverability.
Powertrain and Transmission
Under the hood, the Creta Summer Edition maintains its established powertrain options, focusing on proven performance. It is available with a 1.5-litre MPi petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine, both well-regarded for their balance of efficiency and power delivery. Notably, this special edition does not feature the turbo petrol engine option. Transmission choices are varied to suit different driving preferences, including a manual transmission (MT), an intelligent variable transmission (IVT), and an automatic transmission (AT), with specific availability depending on the chosen engine and variant. For instance, the EX Summer Edition is offered with both petrol and diesel engines, both paired with a manual transmission. The EX(O) Summer Edition expands these options, offering the petrol engine with MT and IVT, and the diesel engine with both MT and AT. Similarly, the higher S(O) and SX variants offer a selection of these engine and transmission combinations, ensuring that customers can select a configuration that best fits their driving needs and style.
