Ventilation for All
Ventilated seats, once a feature exclusive to luxury vehicles, are now within reach for many car buyers in India. This innovation dramatically enhances
comfort, particularly during warmer months, by circulating air through the seat cushions. Historically, accessing this convenience meant a significant investment, often exceeding Rs 30 lakh. However, the automotive landscape has shifted, with numerous manufacturers incorporating this sought-after amenity into more mainstream models. Today, you can find it not only in SUVs but also in MPVs, making advanced comfort more accessible than ever before. This list delves into the ten most affordable vehicles currently available in India that provide this refreshing feature.
Maruti Suzuki XL6
Leading the pack for MPVs with ventilated seats is the Maruti Suzuki XL6, specifically in its top-tier Alpha+ trim, starting at Rs 12.97 lakh. This makes it the most economical option on this list that offers this feature. For perspective, another midsize MPV offering cooled seats, the Kia Carens Clavis, is only available on its premium HTX+ trim, priced considerably higher at over Rs 18 lakh. The XL6's Alpha+ variant is equipped with a 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 103hp, mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. Lower trims, Zeta and Zeta+, also come with an 88hp CNG option. The Alpha+ trim with ventilated seats is priced at Rs 12.97 lakh for the manual and Rs 14.32 lakh for the automatic, with dual-tone options available for an additional Rs 16,000.
Citroen C3 Aircross
The Citroen C3 Aircross offers ventilated front seats exclusively in its top-of-the-line Max trim, which is available in both 5- and 7-seater configurations. This trim level is exclusively paired with a turbo-petrol engine that generates 110hp, and buyers can choose between manual and automatic transmission options. Notably, the C3 Aircross stands out as the most affordable midsize SUV in India to feature ventilated seats. The Max trim starts at Rs 12.82 lakh for the 5-seater manual and Rs 13.20 lakh for the 7-seater manual. The automatic variants are priced at Rs 13.99 lakh for the 5-seater and Rs 14.37 lakh for the 7-seater. A dual-tone paint scheme adds Rs 20,000 to the cost.
Tata Punch EV
Tata's compact electric SUV, the Punch EV, introduces ventilated seats in its highest trim, the Empowered+ S 40, priced at Rs 12.59 lakh. This makes the Punch EV the most affordable electric vehicle in the Indian market to offer this sophisticated comfort feature. Buyers have a choice between two battery packs: a 30kWh option with a claimed range of 365km, and a larger 40kWh pack offering a claimed range of 468km. The Empowered+ S 40 variant, which includes the ventilated seats, is priced at Rs 12.59 lakh.
Citroen Basalt
Similar to its sibling, the Citroen C3 Aircross, the Citroen Basalt also offers seat ventilation in its highest trim, the Max, which begins at Rs 12.48 lakh. This particular trim is powered by a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine delivering 110hp, coupled with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Lower-spec variants of the Basalt are equipped with a less powerful 82hp, 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine, exclusively available with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The Basalt's Max trim is priced at Rs 12.48 lakh for the manual and Rs 13.75 lakh for the automatic version. Opting for a dual-tone colour will incur an additional charge of Rs 21,000.
Tata Nexon
The popular Tata Nexon incorporates ventilated front seats in its top-tier Fearless+ PS trim, with prices starting from Rs 12.27 lakh. Intriguingly, this specific trim is also available with a CNG option, positioning it as the most economical CNG-powered vehicle on this list that provides cooled seats. The Nexon lineup offers three engine choices: a 120hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol; a 100hp, 1.0-litre CNG-powered turbo unit; and a 115hp, 1.5-litre diesel engine. The petrol engine can be paired with a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, while the diesel engine comes with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AMT. The Fearless+ PS trim starts at Rs 12.27 lakh for the petrol manual, Rs 13.22 lakh for the CNG manual, and Rs 13.37 lakh for the diesel manual. Higher-spec automatic variants range from Rs 13.62 lakh to Rs 14.02 lakh. Optional Dark and Red Dark editions add Rs 20,000 and Rs 30,000 respectively.
Kia Sonet
The Kia Sonet distinguishes itself as the most affordable vehicle in India offering both front and rear seat ventilation, with prices commencing at Rs 12.10 lakh. While the front seats provide comprehensive cooling, the rear ventilation system cools only the seat base, not the backrest. Ventilated front seats are available across the higher trims: HTX, HTX+, and the top-spec HTX+ (O). However, the advanced ventilated rear bench, complete with a segment-first slide and recline functionality, is exclusively found in the premium HTX+ (O) variant. The Sonet shares its engine options, including turbo-petrol and diesel, with the Hyundai Venue. For the ventilated seats, the HTX trim starts at Rs 12.10 lakh for the 1.5 Turbo Petrol MT and Rs 12.80 lakh for the 1.5 Diesel MT. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual, a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, and a 6-speed torque converter automatic. Beyond comfort features, the Venue boasts advanced technologies like Level 2 ADAS and dual 12.3-inch displays. Dual-tone colours add an extra Rs 18,000.
Skoda Slavia
Skoda's entry into the compact SUV segment, the Slavia, offers ventilated front seats, but this feature is restricted to its higher-spec Prestige and Prestige+ trims. This inclusion positions the Slavia among a select group of compact SUVs in India that provide this amenity, outperforming rivals like the Mahindra XUV 3XO, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, and Maruti Suzuki Brezza in this regard. The Slavia is propelled by a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 115hp, which can be mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The Prestige MT variant with ventilated seats starts at Rs 11.75 lakh, with the Prestige+ MT at Rs 11.99 lakh. The petrol engine is available with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, while the diesel offers both a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. It's important to note that the HTX diesel-manual variant does not come with ventilated seats, unlike its diesel-automatic counterpart. Other variants with ventilated seats go up to Rs 14.17 lakh.
Renault Kiger
Securing the top spot as the most affordable car in India with ventilated front seats is the Renault Kiger, available in its top-spec Emotion trim for just Rs 8.42 lakh. This makes the Kiger the sole vehicle under Rs 10 lakh to offer this convenience feature. The Emotion trim comes with two engine options: a 72hp, 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, exclusively paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, and a more potent 100hp, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, which also offers a CVT automatic transmission. The base 'Emotion 1.0 P MT' variant with ventilated seats is priced at Rs 8.42 lakh. The turbo-petrol manual variant is Rs 9.33 lakh, and the turbo-petrol CVT variant is Rs 10.33 lakh.
