Launch Date Revealed
Nissan India has officially announced that its upcoming Gravite MPV will be unveiled to the Indian market on February 17. This announcement follows an earlier
scheduled launch on January 21, which was postponed without specific reasons provided. This isn't the first time a planned launch has been shifted, as the brand's new mid-size SUV, tentatively named Tekton, also experienced a delay in its unveiling. The Gravite's introduction is a key part of Nissan's strategy to expand its presence in India. Following the Gravite, the Tekton SUV is expected to be launched shortly after, and a larger seven-seater SUV is slated for a 2027 debut. Currently, the Magnite is Nissan's sole offering in a specific segment, highlighting the significance of these new additions to their product portfolio.
Exterior Design Insights
While the full exterior design of the Gravite remains under wraps, Nissan has provided a tantalizing glimpse of its styling. The vehicle showcases an updated aesthetic that aligns with the brand's contemporary design language. Its distinctive front end features a prominent new grille, proudly displaying the Nissan logo and enhanced with elegant chrome accents. The lighting setup has been reimagined with a fresh headlamp configuration, and a sculpted element reminiscent of a hood scoop on the bonnet contributes to a more robust and commanding visual presence, suggesting a bold new direction for the automaker's styling.
Interior and Seating
Specifics regarding the Gravite's interior are still a closely guarded secret. However, it's anticipated that the MPV will boast a completely refreshed cabin, potentially utilizing a variety of materials for the dashboard to create a modern feel. There's also a possibility that certain interior elements will be shared with other models in the segment, hinting at shared platforms or components. The core offering, however, is its flexible three-row seating arrangement. This configuration is expected to allow for versatile seating options, accommodating either 5, 6, or 7 occupants depending on the specific layout chosen, enhancing its practicality for families and larger groups.
Expected Feature Set
The upcoming Gravite MPV is anticipated to come equipped with a comprehensive suite of modern features designed to enhance convenience and connectivity for occupants. Leading the list is a 7-inch TFT instrument cluster, providing clear and customizable driver information. Complementing this is an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which will offer seamless integration with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for smartphone mirroring. Additional amenities are expected to include a convenient wireless charging unit for compatible devices, a dedicated cool storage compartment integrated into the center console, and highly practical second-row seats that offer both sliding and reclining functionalities, ensuring optimal comfort for all passengers.
Powertrain and Transmission
Under the hood, the Gravite MPV is expected to be powered by a 1.0-liter, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. This unit is projected to deliver a modest 72 horsepower and 96 Nm of torque. Transmission options are likely to mirror those found in its competitor, offering either a 5-speed manual gearbox or an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) for added convenience. While Nissan may implement subtle enhancements to the engine and transmission to improve the overall driving experience and responsiveness, the fundamental mechanical architecture is expected to remain consistent with established offerings in the segment, ensuring reliability and familiarity.
