KTM has unveiled its dedicated 990 RC R Track version, a motorcycle meticulously engineered for exclusive circuit use, meaning it's not street-legal. This
specialized model builds upon the foundation of its road-going sibling by aggressively shedding kilograms and significantly increasing its power output. The primary objective is to enable riders to achieve their absolute limits on the asphalt, pushing harder and faster than ever before. Every element has been optimized for the racetrack, stripping away extraneous components that would hinder peak performance. This commitment to pure track capability is evident in its design and engineering, promising an exhilarating experience for dedicated riders looking to conquer the circuit.
Engine and Drivetrain Upgrades
At its core, the 990 RC R Track version utilizes the familiar 947cc LC8c parallel-twin engine, but with crucial enhancements. Engineers have successfully boosted its output to an impressive 135 horsepower at 10,000 rpm and 105 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm. This represents a tangible increase over the standard model's 130 hp and 103 Nm, offering riders a more potent power delivery. Complementing this enhanced power is a transmission optimized for racing. It features a lengthened first gear to ensure robust launches from a standstill and a shorter sixth gear, designed to maximize acceleration and top-end speed during spirited riding. The integration of an Akrapovic Evolution Line stainless steel exhaust system, weighing a mere 3 kg, is crucial for enhancing the crisp engine response while contributing significantly to the bike's overall weight reduction.

Advanced Electronics and Suspension
The electronic suite on the 990 RC R Track version has been streamlined for essential racing functions. A compact 4.2-inch TFT display provides riders with crucial information, including lap times and other vital telemetry, without unnecessary distractions. The system offers three distinct, customizable Track Modes that allow riders to fine-tune various performance parameters. These include adjustments for throttle response, traction control sensitivity, anti-wheelie capabilities, launch control settings, engine braking intensity, pit limiter functionality, and the Quickshifter+. The suspension system is a fully adjustable WP APEX setup, with both front and rear components finely tuned based on extensive testing at leading European circuits. For exceptional stopping power, Brembo Hypure brakes are employed, featuring 320 mm front discs and direct brake lines, ensuring immediate and precise deceleration. The bike is equipped with Michelin Power Slick tires, sized 120/70-17 at the front and 190/55-17 at the rear, providing optimal grip for aggressive cornering and acceleration.
