New Daily Flight Route
A significant enhancement to air travel has been made with the introduction of a daily flight service linking Navi Mumbai's airport to Thiruvananthapuram.
This new route, operated by IndiGo, is designed to provide passengers with more convenient travel opportunities between these two important locations. The service from Navi Mumbai departs at 10:35 am, arriving in Thiruvananthapuram at 12:45 pm. The return journey commences at 5:05 pm, landing back in Navi Mumbai by 7:15 pm. This addition complements the existing daily flights to Mumbai, offering enhanced flexibility for those needing to access the broader Mumbai Metropolitan Region and its surrounding areas. The timing of this launch coincides with the airport's expanded summer schedule, indicating a strategic effort to leverage increased demand and improve travel infrastructure.
Summer Schedule Expansion
The introduction of the new daily Navi Mumbai-Thiruvananthapuram route is part of a wider summer expansion plan, which sees a notable increase in overall flight operations. This expanded schedule, effective from March 29 to October 24, will connect the airport to 46 destinations via 30 domestic routes. It's projected that under this summer plan, the airport will accommodate up to 1,092 flights weekly, averaging 156 air traffic movements each day. This represents a substantial growth, with daily departures anticipated to rise significantly from 22 at its initial launch to 78 by April 2026. Airlines such as IndiGo, Akasa Air, and Air India Express are increasing their presence, offering more frequent services to popular cities like Delhi, Goa, Bengaluru, and Kochi. This boost is aimed at improving connectivity for both major metropolitan hubs and smaller cities, catering to the growing number of travelers in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
International and Domestic Boost
The Thiruvananthapuram airport is experiencing a significant uptick in both its international and domestic flight offerings. International operations are set to increase by 10 percent, with weekly flights rising from 310 to 340. This expansion includes enhanced services to key international destinations. Abu Dhabi will see the most frequent flights with 74 weekly services, followed by Sharjah with 56, Dubai with 32, Kuala Lumpur with 28, Muscat with 26, and Kuwait with 26. Other international routes include Male (24 weekly flights), Doha (20), Bahrain (14), Singapore (14), Dammam (14), Colombo (8), and Hanimadhoo (4). Domestically, Bengaluru will be served by 84 weekly flights, Delhi by 56, Chennai and Mumbai by 42 each, and Hyderabad by 28. Shorter routes include Kochi with 14 weekly services, Navi Mumbai with 14, Kannur with eight, and Mangaluru and Guwahati with four and two flights respectively. This multifaceted expansion across both international and domestic sectors signifies a robust growth in air travel capacity and reach.
