Stylish Design, Practical Port
When placed side-by-side with its base model, the Yamaha EC-06 presents a dramatically different aesthetic. While the original's styling might not appeal
to everyone, the EC-06 boasts a more universally attractive design, a crucial factor for many Indian family scooter buyers, even in the burgeoning electric vehicle segment. Beyond its visual appeal, Yamaha has thoughtfully relocated the charging port to a more conventional and convenient position on the EC-06, a minor yet significant improvement that enhances the overall user experience compared to its counterpart.
Sharper Dynamics, Refined Ride
Yamaha's renowned expertise in crafting exceptional handling two-wheelers is evident in the EC-06. Building upon a platform that was already dynamically competent, Yamaha has elevated the ride quality by reinforcing specific areas of the chassis for increased stiffness. This structural enhancement, coupled with meticulously reworked brakes and suspension, results in a noticeably more engaging and precise riding experience. The result is a scooter that not only looks good but also delivers on Yamaha's legacy of superior handling and control on the road.
Compromised Storage Space
In the transformation from its base model to the EC-06, a notable trade-off has been made concerning practicality, specifically in the form of reduced underseat storage. The EC-06 offers a modest 24.5-litre boot capacity, which is nearly half of the 43 litres available in its sibling model. This significant reduction in storage space could be a considerable inconvenience for riders who rely on their scooter for carrying groceries, personal items, or other essentials, potentially limiting its utility for everyday tasks.
Slow Charging, High Price
Perhaps one of the most perplexing aspects of the EC-06 is its charging solution. It is equipped with a rather slow 450W charger, leading to an extensive 10-hour charging time for a full battery. This is particularly puzzling given that its compatible sibling offers a faster 750W charger. Furthermore, the EC-06 enters the market with a price tag that positions it as a more premium offering. At Rs 1.68 lakh (ex-showroom), it is significantly more expensive than its direct counterpart and also commands a higher price than offerings from established major players in the Indian electric two-wheeler landscape, presenting a considerable cost barrier for potential buyers.
