Commanding Presence, Accessible Feel
The RTX 300 immediately projects an imposing image, characterized by its substantial 835 mm seat height, distinctive LED headlamps, and a robust front
fairing. This design might initially suggest a large, unwieldy machine, but the reality shifts once you settle into the saddle. Riders will appreciate the spacious and comfortable riding posture, a crucial element for extended journeys. Furthermore, the motorcycle's wheel configuration, featuring a 19-inch front and a 17-inch rear, proves adept at striking a crucial balance. This setup ensures agile handling in congested urban environments while maintaining steadfast stability and a relaxed demeanor during highway cruising, making it versatile for various riding conditions.
Refined Power for the Road
Positioned slightly below some segment competitors like the Himalayan 450 or KTM 390 Adventure in terms of engine displacement and price, the RTX 300 nevertheless presents a compelling package. Its heart is a newly developed 299 cc, liquid-cooled engine, capable of delivering 36 hp and paired with a six-speed gearbox featuring a bi-directional quickshifter. This new TVS engine marks a significant leap in refinement compared to its predecessors, offering a considerably smoother and less harsh riding experience. Vibrations are more effectively managed, and the engine's sound is polished rather than overtly gruff, contributing to a more pleasant overall feel. The clutch operation is light, gear changes are seamless, and the engine provides a strong, accessible mid-range torque band that serves effectively in both city traffic and open stretches of road. Heat dissipation is commendable during daily operations, allowing for effortless cruising between 90-110 kmph on the highway. While it can exceed triple-digit speeds, it doesn't offer the same planted feeling as some heavier rivals. The windscreen effectively deflects wind blast on highways, though it might slightly impede visibility in dense city traffic.
Feature-Rich for Practicality
The RTX 300 is equipped with a suite of advanced features that significantly enhance its real-world usability and performance. It offers four distinct riding modes—Urban, Tour, Rain, and Rally—each optimized for specific riding environments. The Tour mode is particularly noteworthy, providing responsive throttle input while achieving an impressive real-world fuel efficiency of approximately 25 kmpl, making it an excellent choice for extended highway travel. Switching to Urban mode results in a noticeably softer throttle response, prioritizing a smoother ride over immediate acceleration, which is suitable for relaxed commuting but less ideal for navigating tight gaps in heavy traffic. In off-road scenarios, Rally mode comes into its own by disabling rear ABS, enabling more aggressive braking and better control on slippery or loose terrain. Additional standout features include class-leading twin Class-D LED headlamps with automatic intensity adjustment, ensuring superior illumination on both trails and highways. A vibrant 5-inch color TFT display, complete with connected technology, tire pressure monitoring, and a gear-shift indicator, further solidifies the RTX 300's position as an approachable and confidence-inspiring adventure-touring motorcycle, especially for riders new to the segment.
