Interior Reimagined
Step inside the updated 7 Series and be greeted by a dramatically transformed cabin. The dashboard has been completely redesigned, now featuring BMW’s
latest iDrive system. A standout element is the new Panoramic iDrive, a full-width display seamlessly integrated at the base of the windscreen, working in harmony with a substantial 17.9-inch central touchscreen and a 14.6-inch passenger display, which comes as standard equipment. This advanced system operates on BMW Operating System X, offering convenient over-the-air updates, enhanced navigation capabilities, and superior smartphone connectivity. Voice control has also received a significant upgrade, incorporating AI-driven functions for a more intuitive interaction. The cabin's layout prioritizes a minimalist aesthetic, with a reduction in physical buttons on the centre console. Essential controls are now predominantly located on the steering wheel, with secondary functions accessible through the touchscreen. The interior is adorned with premium materials, including luxurious leather, refined wood, gleaming metal accents, and elegant crystal elements, elevating the sense of opulence. A new steering wheel design with vertical twin spokes adds a touch of modern flair, complemented by a crystal gear selector lever that exudes sophistication. Standard features encompass multifunction seats, while an optional Executive Lounge package further enhances the rear compartment's comfort and exclusivity.
Exterior Enhancements
The exterior of the updated 7 Series showcases a refined evolution of its existing silhouette, with significant design tweaks concentrated on the front and rear fascias. It continues to feature the distinctive split headlamp configuration, now enhanced with a revised lighting signature. Slim daytime running lights (DRLs) are positioned at the top, with the main headlamp units arranged vertically below them. The front bumper has been reshaped for a more dynamic appearance, and the bonnet lines have been sharpened, adding to its assertive stance. The iconic illuminated kidney grille is retained but now features horizontal slats within its design, a departure from the previous vertical arrangement. Along the sides, the design adopts a cleaner, more minimalist approach with fewer character lines, resulting in smoother, more elegant surfaces. At the rear, the tail-lamps are slimmer and sport a new lighting pattern, while a blacked-out section lower down contributes to a sleeker profile. The overall design philosophy leans towards flush surfaces and reduced creasing, projecting a more contemporary and aerodynamic form. Furthermore, new exterior paint options and updated alloy wheel designs are introduced, with wheel sizes now reaching up to 22 inches, a first for the 7 Series, offering greater personalization and visual impact.
Advanced Technology & Safety
This latest iteration of the 7 Series elevates its technological prowess and safety systems, integrating advanced features for an enhanced driving and ownership experience. The model is equipped with updated driver assistance systems that provide Level 2 autonomous driving capabilities. This includes the ability to drive hands-free at speeds of up to 130 kph under specific conditions, alongside improved assistance for urban driving scenarios and sophisticated parking functions. The Park Assist system is now a standard offering, enhanced with updated sensor-based detection for more precise and reliable parking manoeuvres. Complementing these technological advancements, the chassis remains a strong suit, with adaptive air suspension and electronically controlled dampers fitted as standard to ensure a supremely comfortable and composed ride. For those seeking enhanced driving dynamics, optional features such as rear-wheel steering are available, along with additional chassis control systems designed to optimize both agility in tight spaces and high-speed stability. These integrated systems work in synergy to provide a driving experience that is both effortless and engaging, reinforcing the 7 Series' position as a leader in automotive innovation and driver support.
Diverse Powertrain Options
The updated 7 Series continues to offer a comprehensive and diverse range of powertrain options, catering to various driving preferences and environmental considerations across different markets. At the heart of the combustion engine lineup are six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, both benefiting from the efficiency gains provided by 48V mild-hybrid technology. The petrol variant, the 740 xDrive, delivers an impressive 400 horsepower and 580 Nm of torque. The diesel counterpart, the 740d xDrive, produces 313 horsepower and a robust 670 Nm of torque. For those seeking enhanced performance and electrified driving, plug-in hybrid versions are available, namely the 750e xDrive and the M760e xDrive. Both combine a 3.0-litre inline-six petrol engine with an electric motor. The 750e generates a combined output of 489 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque, offering an electric-only range of 70–82 km (WLTP). The more potent M760e boasts 612 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque, with an electric-only range extending up to approximately 80 km (WLTP). The fully electric i7 range also sees continued offerings with multiple variants, including the i7 50 xDrive, i7 60 xDrive, and the range-topping i7 M70 xDrive. These models utilize a substantial around 112.5 kWh battery pack and support rapid DC fast charging at speeds up to 250 kW. Power outputs in the i7 range from 455 horsepower and 660 Nm in the i7 50 xDrive to a formidable 680 horsepower and up to 1100 Nm in the i7 M70 xDrive. The claimed WLTP driving range for the i7 variants spans impressively from roughly 566 km to 728 km, depending on the specific model and configuration.
