Kalaburagi Terminal Shift
A significant proposed alteration for Vande Bharat operations from Bengaluru involves the Kalaburagi service. Currently originating from Sir M Visvesvaraya
Terminal (SMVT Bengaluru), railway authorities are advocating for its relocation to Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna Bengaluru Station (KSR Bengaluru). This strategic move is intended to enhance passenger convenience and streamline the overall operational flow of this popular intercity service. The proposal, put forth by South Western Railway (SWR), aims to capitalize on the connectivity and accessibility offered by KSR Bengaluru, making it easier for travelers to board and alight the train. This change, however, is contingent on receiving the final nod from the Railway Board, which is expected to review the proposal thoroughly before granting approval for implementation. This potential shift represents a considerable adjustment in how the Kalaburagi Vande Bharat is managed and accessed by passengers.
Revised Timings Emerge
Beyond the potential terminal change, adjustments to the operating schedules of Bengaluru's Vande Bharat services are also under consideration. For the Kalaburagi route, a subtle but impactful change is proposed: the train is slated to depart Kalaburagi approximately 10 minutes earlier, at 6:00 am. This earlier departure is projected to result in an arrival time in Bengaluru of 1:50 pm, a slight improvement compared to its current 2:10 pm arrival. On the return journey, the service is expected to leave from KSR Bengaluru at 2:40 pm, aiming to reach Kalaburagi by 10:40 pm. These revised timings are part of a broader effort to optimize the train's operational efficiency and passenger experience, ensuring a more predictable and potentially faster journey. The introduction of these new timings is also awaiting the final clearance from the Railway Board.
Maintenance Day Updates
Significant updates are also in the pipeline concerning the weekly maintenance schedules for both Vande Bharat services departing from Bengaluru. For the Belagavi service, while its timetable remains unchanged, the designated maintenance day is proposed to shift from Wednesday to Thursday. This means the train will not be operational on Thursdays. Simultaneously, the Kalaburagi-Bengaluru service is also set to see its non-operational day adjusted. Currently suspended on Thursdays, it is proposed to be suspended on Wednesdays instead. These adjustments in maintenance days are a strategic move by SWR, reportedly to centralize and improve the efficiency of maintenance operations, potentially by shifting these activities to Belagavi. Such a reorganization aims to ensure the trains are better serviced and ready for their weekly operations, contributing to overall reliability.
Belagavi Service Stability
In contrast to the proposed changes affecting other Vande Bharat services, the Bengaluru-Belagavi route is set to maintain its current operational rhythm. The train's schedule will remain precisely as it is, ensuring continuity for passengers who rely on this service. Specifically, the train will continue its departure from Belagavi at 5:35 am, arriving in Bengaluru by 1:50 pm. The return journey from Bengaluru will also stick to its established timings, leaving the city at 2:20 pm and reaching Belagavi by 10:30 pm. While the travel times are stable, the only modification anticipated for this route is the aforementioned shift in its weekly maintenance day from Wednesday to Thursday. This offers a sense of stability for the Belagavi Vande Bharat, even as other services undergo potential revisions.
