Feature-Rich Interior Upgrades
The interior of the updated Kushaq receives a significant boost in comfort and technology, aiming to meet the high expectations of midsize SUV buyers.
A standout addition is the "segment-first" massaging rear seats, designed to enhance passenger comfort on longer journeys or for those who prefer to be chauffeured. For the front occupants, the facelift introduces powered and ventilated seats, a convenient wireless charger, and an automatic climate control system. The cabin is further elevated with premium leatherette upholstery, and the infotainment system now supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This 10.1-inch touchscreen, featuring an updated interface for quicker responses and crisper visuals, is complemented by a 6-speaker audio system, multiple USB Type-C ports, and integrated Google Gemini with voice recognition capabilities. Adding to the modern ambiance, a new 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster replaces the traditional dials, providing a contemporary look, while LED ambient lighting further enhances the premium feel. The interior design maintains a dual-tone aesthetic, with a black-and-beige scheme in the Prestige trim and a striking crimson colour palette in the Monte Carlo variant, preserving the overall quality and fit-finish previously appreciated. However, the manual parking brake remains, a detail that could have been updated to a more contemporary electronic system.
Powertrain Options Evolve
Under the hood, the Skoda Kushaq facelift introduces an updated transmission choice for its 1.0 TSI engine, enhancing its appeal in the competitive midsize SUV segment. This 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, delivering 115 horsepower and 178 Nm of torque, is carried over without changes. The larger 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, producing 150 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque, also remains consistent. The key transmission update lies with the 1.0 TSI variants, which now feature a new 8-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox. This new unit replaces the previous 6-speed automatic transmission, offering a potentially smoother and more refined driving experience. For enthusiasts who prefer manual control, the 6-speed manual gearbox will continue to be available across the range. The 1.5 TSI engine retains its existing 7-speed dual-clutch (DSG) automatic transmission, ensuring that performance-oriented buyers still have access to this sophisticated gearbox, which was also present in the pre-facelift model.
Exterior Design Refinements
The exterior of the Skoda Kushaq facelift has been subtly yet effectively updated, aligning with the brand's 'Modern Solid' design philosophy. At the front, a prominent sleek LED light bar now stretches across the vehicle, connecting the headlamps and enhancing the visual width, integrated with the signature Skoda grille adorned with chrome. The front bumper has also been re-profiled, featuring a revised lower apron and a new skid plate design for a more robust appearance. For the sportier Monte Carlo trim, chrome elements are replaced with gloss black accents, and subtle red highlights are added to the grille for a distinctive look. The rear of the facelift showcases a full-width LED light bar that illuminates the 'Skoda' branding, complete with sequential turn indicators for added flair. The rear bumper also sports a revised design with a silver skid plate. While the side profile largely maintains its proportions and stance, the alloy wheel designs have been refreshed to give it a more modern appeal. Skoda is also introducing three new exterior paint options: Cherry Red, Shimla Green, and Steel Grey, providing buyers with more personalization choices. Importantly, the facelift retains the commendable 5-star Global NCAP safety rating achieved by the pre-facelift model, assuring customers of its structural integrity and safety standards.
