Engine Power Boost
The heart of the 990 RC R Track beats with an enhanced 947cc parallel-twin LC8c engine, pushing out an impressive 135 horsepower and 105Nm of torque. This
represents a notable step up from the standard 990 RC R's 130hp and 103Nm output, promising even more exhilarating acceleration and top-end speed. Complementing this power upgrade is a race-tuned gearbox, featuring a taller first gear for improved initial drive out of slower corners and a shorter sixth gear to maximize straight-line velocity. Further contributing to the performance package is the ultra-lightweight Akrapovic Evolution Line exhaust system, weighing in at a mere 3kg, which not only enhances the engine's breathing but also contributes to the bike's overall agility and sound profile.
Track-Ready Hardware
This specialized variant sheds road-legal necessities like lights, mirrors, and the side-stand, transforming it into a dedicated track weapon. The 990 RC R Track rides on high-performance Michelin Power Slick tires, specifically chosen for their grip on circuit asphalt. Suspension is managed by fully adjustable WP APEX units at both the front and rear, meticulously calibrated for aggressive track riding conditions, ensuring optimal feedback and control. The braking system is equally impressive, featuring potent Brembo Hypure calipers clamping down on a substantial 320mm front disc and a 240mm rear disc. This setup is tuned for uncompromising track performance, with the ABS system deactivated to provide maximum rider engagement and stopping power.
Advanced Electronics
KTM has further refined the 990 RC R Track by reducing its weight by an additional 2kg through a more compact electronics package. Riders have access to three fully customizable Track modes, allowing for fine-tuning of crucial performance parameters. These include throttle response for immediate power delivery, traction control for maintaining grip, wheel slip control for advanced handling, anti-wheelie control to keep the front end down, launch control for explosive starts, and engine brake settings for precise corner entry. The bike also boasts a pit limiter for controlled speeds in the pit lane and a bi-directional quickshifter for seamless gear changes, all displayed on a vibrant 4.2-inch full-colour TFT screen.
Aerodynamic Design
Drawing inspiration from KTM's MotoGP machine, the RC16, the 990 RC R Track features an aerodynamic package designed for maximum efficiency on the track. The windscreen is slightly taller, aiding rider comfort and airflow management at high speeds. For added utility, a wet-weather tail-light is included, and a paddock stand comes as standard equipment, simplifying maintenance and bike handling in the garage. The highly anticipated KTM 990 RC R Track is slated to begin its global delivery journey starting in April 2026, marking a significant addition to the performance motorcycle landscape for track enthusiasts worldwide.
