New Train Launch
Western Railway is set to significantly improve connectivity between Mumbai and Gujarat with the inauguration of a brand-new weekly special train service.
This initiative, commencing on May 6, 2026, will operate between Bandra Terminus and the significant pilgrimage site of Palitana. The primary objective behind introducing this service is to alleviate the increasing passenger load on this crucial inter-state corridor, thereby making travel more manageable. This new route promises to be an overnight journey, designed to offer a comfortable and efficient option for a wide spectrum of travellers, including those visiting religious destinations, individuals on business trips, and families connecting with loved ones.

Full Route Details
During its passage in both directions, this special train will make stops at a number of strategically important stations, ensuring accessibility for passengers across various regions. The key stations that will be served by this new weekly express include Borivali, Palghar, Vapi, Valsad, Surat, Vadodara, and Ahmedabad, covering major urban centres. Further along the route, passengers can board or alight at Botad, Dhola, Songadh, and Sihor, providing vital connections to smaller towns and areas of significance. These intermediate halts are crucial for extending the reach of this new service and accommodating a broader range of travellers wishing to connect between these two important Indian states.
Passenger Benefits
The introduction of this dedicated weekly train service is anticipated to offer substantial relief to the frequent travellers between Mumbai and Gujarat. With the existing demand often outstripping supply, especially during peak travel periods such as weekends and holidays, securing confirmed tickets has frequently posed a challenge. This additional service is expected to significantly ease the congestion on this route, contribute to reducing waiting lists for passengers, and generally improve the availability of confirmed travel options. Furthermore, the train is particularly beneficial for pilgrims heading to Palitana, a revered religious site, by providing a more direct and convenient mode of transport. Business travellers and families will also appreciate the enhanced connectivity and the comfort of an overnight journey.
