Festive Travel Boost
With Maha Shivaratri, a significant festival honouring Lord Shiva, approaching on February 15th, a substantial increase in passenger traffic is anticipated.
Millions of devotees embark on journeys to various temples and spiritual hubs to participate in the night-long prayers and rituals. To proactively address this surge in travel and ensure seamless connectivity for pilgrims and regular travellers alike, South Western Railway has thoughtfully introduced dedicated express train services. These special services are designed to bridge the distance between Yeshwantpur and Kalaburagi, providing a much-needed transportation solution during this peak festive period and allowing devotees to comfortably reach their intended destinations for the celebrations.
Train Schedules Detailed
The operational details for the special express trains have been meticulously laid out to offer convenience. Train number 06209 commenced its service from Yeshwantpur, departing at precisely 10:40 pm. This overnight journey is strategically planned to ensure passengers arrive in Kalaburagi by 9:15 am the following morning, giving them ample time to prepare for and participate in Maha Shivaratri rituals. For those planning their return trip after the festivities, train number 06210 is scheduled for Saturday. This train will depart from Kalaburagi at 10:15 am, arriving back in Yeshwantpur by 9:40 pm on the same day. This daytime return service aims to provide travellers with flexibility and ease as they conclude their pilgrimage or festive visits.
Extended Halt Network
To enhance accessibility for a wider range of travellers, these special express trains will make stops at numerous significant railway stations along their designated routes. Passengers can board or alight at Yelahanka, Hindupur, Dharmavaram, Anantapur, Guntakal, Adoni, Mantralayam Road, Raichur, Krishna, Yadgir, and Shahabad. The inclusion of these multiple intermediate halts is crucial for catering to passengers who rely on these key transportation nodes for their travel, thereby making the special service a more inclusive and convenient option for people across different regions.
Enhanced Coach Capacity
Recognizing the substantial increase in passenger numbers, each of these special express trains has been configured with a substantial 20-coach composition. This augmented capacity is a deliberate measure by railway authorities to effectively accommodate a significantly larger volume of passengers during the bustling Maha Shivaratri travel period. The aim is to efficiently manage the elevated demand, significantly reduce the chances of long waiting lists, and ultimately ensure a smoother, more organised, and comfortable journey for everyone travelling to celebrate this important festival.
