Exterior Evolution
The latest iteration of the Verna sports a series of understated design enhancements that give it a fresh appeal without departing drastically from its
established sharp aesthetic. At the forefront, a new dark chrome grille takes center stage, complemented by revised LED headlamps that offer a more contemporary look. The front bumper has also undergone a transformation, featuring more prominent detailing around its edges and lower section, adding a touch of aggression. While the distinctive connected tail-lamps and boot-mounted spoiler at the rear remain familiar, the bumper has been redesigned to include silver trim and a subtle diffuser-style element at the base. Adding to the customization options, two new exterior color choices, Classy Blue and Titan Grey Matte, have been introduced, allowing buyers to personalize their vehicle further. These thoughtful exterior modifications collectively maintain the Verna's inherent sporty character while incorporating modern design sensibilities.
Interior Enhancements
Stepping inside the updated Verna reveals a cabin that largely retains its well-received dual-tone black-and-white theme, with turbo-petrol variants continuing to boast an all-black interior ambiance. The impressive twin 10.25-inch screen setup remains a focal point, though the digital instrument cluster now benefits from updated graphics, presenting information with a fresh visual flair. A significant addition is the new three-spoke steering wheel, which adopts a design similar to those found in other modern Hyundai models like the Venue and Ioniq 5, featuring the brand's distinctive Morse Code ‘H’ logo. It's worth noting that the Verna does not incorporate the larger 12.3-inch screens present in the Venue, likely due to platform architecture limitations that do not support the newer Nvidia-based E&E system. Nevertheless, the interior modifications contribute to a more premium and contemporary feel.
Feature Additions
The updated Verna significantly boosts its convenience and safety quotient with a range of new and enhanced features. Occupants will appreciate the addition of powered front passenger seats, offering greater adjustability for comfort. Furthermore, the driver's seat now includes a memory function, allowing for quick recall of preferred seating positions. A notable innovation is the 'boss mode' for the front passenger seat, empowering rear passengers to adjust the front seat forward, thereby creating more legroom. In terms of safety, the top variant now comes equipped with a 360-degree camera system, providing enhanced situational awareness. Additionally, the vehicle now features seven airbags as standard in the top variant, a segment-first offering that further solidifies its commitment to passenger protection. These feature upgrades position the Verna as a more desirable and secure option in its class.
Unchanged Powertrain
Under the hood, the Verna remains mechanically identical to its predecessor, ensuring a familiar and proven driving experience. It continues to be offered with two robust engine options: a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine delivering 115hp, and a more potent 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine generating 160hp. Both powertrains are paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox, providing engaging control for enthusiasts. For those preferring automatic transmission, the naturally aspirated engine is available with a smooth CVT, while the turbo-petrol variant offers a quick-shifting 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. This consistency in the mechanicals means drivers can expect the same reliable performance and efficiency they have come to associate with the Verna.
Pricing and Variants
With the introduction of the updated Verna, Hyundai has also adjusted its pricing strategy and revised the variant nomenclature to align with its newer models. The sedan is now priced between Rs 10.98 lakh and Rs 18.25 lakh (ex-showroom), reflecting a slight increase across the range. The base variant has seen an increase of approximately Rs 18,000, while the top variant's price has risen by about Rs 1.1 lakh compared to the outgoing model. Accompanying these changes is a new trim structure, featuring designations such as HX2, HX4, HX6, HX6+, HX8, and HX10. This updated naming convention brings the Verna's variant lineup in sync with that of the new Venue, offering a more consistent brand experience for customers.
