To alleviate the persistent traffic gridlock plaguing this crucial transport link, a comprehensive Rs 310 crore infrastructure upgrade is in motion. The state highways department is poised to initiate tenders for extensive road widening operations, with preliminary work already underway, including the strategic reduction of existing footpaths to reclaim valuable space for vehicle traffic. This segment of the project alone is projected to cost approximately Rs 45 crore, signaling a significant investment in enhancing the road's capacity and functionality. The planned additions include two new traffic lanes, a substantial increase aimed at dramatically improving the flow of vehicles and reducing travel durations.

Beyond simply adding lanes, the Sardar Patel Road development incorporates crucial improvements for all road users and the surrounding environment. Notably, a section of approximately 400 meters beneath the recently completed Central Kailash Flyover has already undergone widening. New Flyover for Deeper Relief
In a significant parallel initiative to further enhance traffic decongestion in the broader vicinity, authorities have put forth a proposal for a new, substantial 3-kilometer-long flyover. This elevated corridor is slated for construction at the Guru Nanak College Junction and is estimated to carry a hefty price tag of around Rs 310 crore. The junction and its surrounding areas are known to experience extreme daily traffic volumes, with an estimated 7 lakh commuters passing through and thousands of vehicles navigating the space every single hour. Project planners are confident that once both the road widening on Sardar Patel Road and this new flyover are completed, the combined impact will lead to a remarkable reduction in congestion and a significant improvement in the overall traffic flow across this highly utilized urban stretch.
