Summer Travel Boost
As the summer holidays approach, the Indian railway network anticipates a significant surge in passenger numbers, particularly along busy southern routes.
To address this anticipated overcrowding and ensure a seamless travel experience for passengers, a dedicated special train service has been inaugurated. This new train is designed to bridge the gap between Mangalore and Chennai Egmore, offering a much-needed alternative for travellers. It will thoughtfully pause at several crucial intermediate stations, including Podanur, Tiruppur, Erode, and Salem, thereby enhancing connectivity and providing a convenient travel option for those journeying across this frequently used corridor.
Mangalore to Chennai Schedule
The special train, designated as service number 06126, commences its journey from Mangalore Central railway station every Monday at 4:00 PM. Its route spans across significant rail hubs such as Palakkad, Podanur, Tiruppur, and Erode before reaching Salem in the early hours of the following day, specifically at 3:17 AM. Following a brief halt in Salem, the train is slated to resume its passage at 3:20 AM. It will then proceed through Jolarpettai, Katpadi, Sholinghur, Arakkonam, Thiruvallur, and Perambur, with its final destination being Chennai Egmore, where it is scheduled to arrive at 10:30 AM. This service is particularly vital for establishing a direct and efficient link for travellers originating from Karnataka's west coast and heading towards the bustling capital of Tamil Nadu.
Chennai to Mangalore Route
For the return leg, the special train departing from Chennai Egmore to Mangalore Central is scheduled to depart every Tuesday at 2:00 PM. The train will reach Salem at 7:37 PM on the same day, having passed through notable stations like Katpadi and Jolarpet. After a short technical halt, it will recommence its journey at 7:40 PM. The onward route includes stops at Erode, Tiruppur, and Podanur before its final arrival at Mangalore Central, which is expected at 6:50 AM the subsequent day. This ensures a consistent and reliable service for passengers travelling in both directions between these two important cities.
Traveler Information Highlights
Passengers are strongly advised to familiarize themselves with the exact departure and arrival timings at all major stations along the special train's route to ensure they can plan their travel effectively and avoid any last-minute complications. The primary objective behind introducing this special service is to alleviate the considerable pressure on the regular train services during the busy summer vacation period. By offering this additional capacity, the railway aims to guarantee that all passengers can enjoy a journey that is not only safe and comfortable but also punctual, catering specifically to the needs of holidaymakers and regular commuters alike.
Bridging Karnataka and Tamil Nadu
This newly introduced service, with its carefully selected intermediate stops and its overnight travel format, plays a significant role in enhancing the travel connectivity between the southern states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. It serves as a crucial facilitator for both individuals undertaking leisure travel and those commuting for business purposes. The train's strategic route and schedule are designed to cater to a wide demographic of travelers, making inter-state journeys more accessible and efficient. This initiative underscores the railway's commitment to improving passenger services, especially during periods of high demand, ensuring that travel remains a smooth and hassle-free experience for everyone.
