New Delhi: Nissan has finally put a name to its next big India-focused product, and it is called the Gravite. The company confirmed that the new MPV will
be fully unveiled in January 2026, with dealer arrivals planned from March. Teaser images are already out, giving a fair idea of what Nissan is trying to do with this car and why it matters for the brand’s India story.
For Nissan, this is not just another launch. The Gravite becomes only the third model in its current Indian line-up, sitting alongside the Magnite and the X-Trail. I still remember how quietly the Triber changed the MPV conversation a few years ago. Nissan now wants a slice of that space, with its own badge, styling tweaks, and a sharper focus on mass buyers.

The company has confirmed that the Gravite will make its official debut in January 2026. Showroom availability is expected from March 2026. This timing puts it right before the new financial year, when many family buyers start shortlisting cars.
In Nissan’s current India line-up, the Gravite will sit below the X-Trail and above the Magnite in terms of positioning, though price details are still under wraps.
What the teaser images tell us about design
From the teaser shots, it is clear that the Gravite is based on the Renault Triber. Still, Nissan has worked to give it its own face.
Up front, the MPV gets a new grille with chrome accents and the Nissan badge. The headlamps look reshaped, with segmented horizontal LED DRLs inside the clusters. The bonnet also carries bold Gravite lettering and a hood scoop-like design element that adds a bit of muscle.

Overall, the design looks upright and practical. It does not try to look sporty, and that is probably the right call for this segment.
Engine, gearbox, and what stays familiar
Mechanically, there are no surprises. The Nissan Gravite will use the same 1.0-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine seen on the Renault Triber.
Key numbers are expected to stay the same:

- Peak torque of 96 Nm
- 5-speed manual gearbox
- AMT option for city-focused buyers
This engine is tuned for efficiency and ease of use, not speed. For most MPV buyers, that is acceptable. It keeps running costs predictable, which matters more than outright performance here.

Beyond the Gravite, Nissan has confirmed two more models for India. The next one is the Nissan Tekton, which will be the brand’s take on the Renault Duster. After that, a seven-seater SUV based on the Tekton platform is planned for a 2027 debut.
For enthusiasts, this roadmap finally looks like a plan, not placeholders. Whether it works will depend on pricing, features, and dealer experience.
