New Delhi: India’s boardrooms are entering a new phase of the AI conversation. The latest Deloitte Tech Trends report says the age of testing small AI ideas
is fading fast. Companies are now being pushed to rebuild how work actually happens, not just add AI on top of old systems.
The report paints a clear picture. AI is no longer sitting in pilot projects or innovation labs. It is moving into core operations, budgets, and leadership agendas. Deloitte says the gap between firms that rethink their foundations and those that rely on basic automation is getting wider.
AI moves from trials to real business impact
Deloitte’s report says AI has shifted from experimentation to impact. The focus is now on fixing broken processes first, then building AI around them. Deepa Seshadri, Partner and CIO Program Leader at Deloitte India, said most technology trends today are pivoting decisively toward AI.
She said, “What stands out in this year’s Deloitte Tech Trends report is how AI is becoming a catalyst for rethinking how organizations are designed, governed, and scaled end to end.” She added that for India, incremental change is not enough and real value lies in rebuilding core processes, infrastructure, and talent models.
Five forces reshaping enterprise technology
The report highlights five major forces that are reshaping enterprises.
1.AI enabled robots are moving AI from screens into physical spaces. These machines are expected to observe, decide, act, and learn in real environments, not just factories.
2. AI agents are gaining attention, though adoption remains limited. Deloitte notes that only 11 percent of organizations have deployed them in production. The issue is not the tools, but the fact that many processes were designed only for humans.
3. AI infrastructure is under strain. While processing costs are falling, usage is rising much faster. Deloitte says many firms are hitting a tipping point and are now building hybrid setups that mix cloud, on premises systems, and edge computing.
4. IT operating models are also changing. AI is pushing tech teams away from service delivery roles and toward strategic leadership tied to business outcomes.
Security grows more complex with AI
AI is also creating a security paradox. It opens new attack surfaces but also gives defenders better tools. Deloitte points to AI driven red teaming, automated threat detection, and defensive agents working at machine speed.
Bill Briggs, chief technology officer at Deloitte, said the report aims to cut through hype and give leaders clarity on what matters over the next 18 to 24 months. Kelly Raskovich added that innovation is now compounding and that the distance between emerging and mainstream technology is collapsing.
