New Delhi: The stalemate is likely to end in the Lok Sabha tomorrow, with all parties discussing theAnti-Paper Leak Bill in the House. As per reports,
Speaker Om Birla has confined leaders of all parties for the discussion on the same. The bill was introduced in the House on Monday morning.
‘All political parties have agreed to discuss anti-paper leak bills’
“All political parties have agreed to discuss the anti-paper leak bill on Tuesday. Following Om Birla’s initiative and sustained dialogue, floor leaders of political parties have agreed to commence discussion on the Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill 2026,” news agency PTI quoted an official as saying.
The bill, tabled by the government, includes stricter punishment of up to 10 years in jail and a Rs 50 lakh fine. The recent protests led to nationwide protests by CJP and students over the NEET exam paper leak incidents, which led to the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan as Education Minister.
Centre tables Anti-Paper Leak Bill in Lok Sabha
This legislation was introduced by Minister of State for PMO Jitendra Singh even as Opposition leaders continued with their protests and sloganeering demanding the government’s response over police crackdown on students during the July 20 protest march to Parliament.
It, however, needs to be noted that no discussion could take place on the bill with the Opposition refusing to change its demand of seeking response from the government on police actions against protesters at Jantar Mantar in the national capital and other parts of India.
The Monsoon Session started on July 20. The opposition parties have been raising the NEET paper leak issue. Because of this, no legislative business was possible far, apart from introducing the two Bills.
