emails. The post, which appears to be from an L5 software development engineer working with Fulfillment By Amazon in Bellevue, has sparked a wider discussion on Reddit and Blind-like employee forums about possible silent layoffs in May.
The claims have not been officially confirmed by Amazon, so the online posts need to be read with caution. Still, the number of comments from different regions has made employees worry that the cuts may not be limited to one small team.

Reddit post claims Amazon worker got layoff email
The original Reddit post said, “Rumors of May layoffs seem to be substantiated, just got the email here.” The user described themselves as “L5 SDE, Fulfillment By Amazon in Bellevue” and said they had been in the role for around 1.5 years.
The quoted email said Amazon had made the “hard business decision to eliminate some roles” after reviewing its organisation, priorities, and focus areas. It added that the employee’s role was being removed and their employment would end after a notification period.
The email also said the impacted worker would get “a non-working period with your full pay and benefits,” a severance package offer, transitional benefits, external job placement support, and 12 months of complimentary access to AWS Skill Builder. It further added, “As of now, you are no longer required to perform work on Amazon’s behalf and will continue to receive your full pay and benefits for the next 90 days.”

The Reddit thread became more serious after other users started adding their own claims from different locations. One comment said, “Layoff happening in account health support side. Entire manila site wiped out. Singapore has mix of L3 to L4s laid off today. Operation managers not spared as well. Waiting for round 2 tomorrow. Godspeed everyone!”
Another user from the US wrote, “Yep, just got mine here. This is going to be hard for me to find another job because of my health issues too -.-” A Costa Rica-based poster also claimed, “Same here, TSI. I am in Costa Rica,” and later added that “PRO, AML, Finance, Risk, Compliance all those deps have been afected today in CR.”
The India angle came up in the same thread. One poster claimed that in Bengaluru, “From Bangalore in my team Across, VCC and office more than 10 people are having meetings today with L7,” adding that they had received a one-on-one meeting invite and an L5 HR person was added to the call.
As of now, this remains employee-sourced chatter and not an official layoff announcement. Still, the posts show a familiar pattern seen during Big Tech cuts: calendar invites, HR calls, badge access changes, and workers trying to decode what is happening before the company says anything publicly.
