New Delhi: With the geopolitical tensions in West Asia continuously evolving, the Government of India has moved to reassure citizens that essential supplies
remain sufficient and stable across the country. An inter-ministerial briefing was held at the National Media Centre on Monday. In the same officials emphasised that proactive steps are being taken to maintain supply chains, support farmers and prevent any disruption to daily life.
Authorities have underlined that there is no immediate cause for concern even as global markets experience volatility. With the Kharif season approaching, the focus remains on ensuring that farmers receive fertilisers at unchanged prices and without shortages.

Fertiliser supply remains strong
In the briefing, officials highlighted that India currently holds around 180 lakh tonnes of fertiliser stock which is significantly higher than the same period last year.
While global price pressures and supply disruptions have impacted production inputs, the government has taken corrective measures including boosting gas supply to urea plants and diversifying imports across multiple countries.
To ensure the same, a dedicated task force is actively monitoring and cordinating supplies. Imports from countries such as Russia, Saudi Arabia, Oman and others are being secured while domestic production is being stabilised. Authorities also confirmed strict monitoring to prevent hoarding, black marketing or diversion with enforcement under the Essential Commodities Act.
Fuel and energy situation under control
On the energy front, officials assured that petrol pumps and LPG distribution networks are also operating normally, despite isolated instances of panic buying. They said that the stocks of petrol, diesel and LPG are available and all refineries are functioning at high capacity.
To strengthen domestic availability, the government has reduced excise duties on fuel while imposing export levies on diesel and aviation turbine fuel. Additionally, online LPG bookings have surged to 95% which helped in improving efficiency and reducing leakages.
Not just that, efforts are also underway to promote PNG connections for households and comercial establishments with companies offering incentives to accelerate adoption. Meanwhile, over 2.6 lakh small LPG cylinders have been distributed recently, particularly benefiting migrant workers.
The government has even urged states to maintain regular communication with the public, counter misinformation and ensure strict enforcement against hoarding. The citizens have also been advised to rely only on official updates and avoid unnecessary panic.
