New Delhi: US President Donald Trump on Tuesday reiterated his claim that he helped end the India-Pakistan war in May 2025. The President said that it was
due to his efforts that the 2 countries avoided going into a full-fledged war. The remarks were made at the 81st session of the United Nations
Trump described Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif as a “terrific man”. He said that the Pakistani leader had “thanked him for stopping the war and saving 30 million lives.”
The American President then went on to say that each of the countries, where he intervened to stop wars, wrote letters to him to “express their gratitude.”
Speaking at UNGA, Trump said, “The Prime Minister of Pakistan, a terrific man, said that Donald Trump was responsible for saving 30 million lives, and probably many more than that.”
This is not the first time that the US President has made such claims. Earlier also on multiple occasions he has said that he was the one who intervened in the India-Pakistan conflict, after Operation Sindoor and helped de-escalate tensions and stopped a full-fledged war between the 2 neighbouring nations.
While Pakistan has more or less supported Trump’s claims, India has denied any foreign intervention in the conflict. India has maintained that the request to de-escalate and stop attacks on Pakistan came from the neighbouring country itself.
It remains to be seen how India reacts to these fresh claims made by Trump at the UNGA.
