New Delhi: Portuguese talisman Cristiano Ronaldo has bought an ownership stake in Spanish second-tier club Almeria, a consulting firm representing the
legendary footballer announced on Thursday.
Brunswick Group released a statement that revealed Ronaldo purchased a 25 per cent share of the club, which is owned by a Saudi Arabian national.
The latest association has deepened Ronaldo’s ties with Saudi Arabia. The former Manchester United and Real Madrid forward moved to Saudi Arabia to play for Al-Nassr in 2022.

“It has been a long-time ambition of mine to contribute to football, beyond the pitch. UD Almería is a Spanish club with strong foundations and clear potential for growth,” Ronaldo said in the statement.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner invested in Almeria through his CR7 Sports Investments subsidiary, as per the Brunswick Group.
Almeria has been under the ownership of Saudi Arabian owners for over six years.
Mohamed Al-Khereiji took over the reins as the president of the Spanish club in the summer of 2025 when he bought it from Turki Al Alsheikh.
“We are very pleased that Cristiano has chosen our club to invest in,” Al-Khereiji said in the statement.
“He knows the Spanish leagues very well, and he understands the potential of what we are building here both in terms of the team and the academy.”
The financial details involving the deal have not been disclosed. Almeria is currently placed third in Spain’s second division. The club’s latest appearance in the first division was in 2023-24.
The news of Ronaldo’s new business venture comes a day after he became the highest goal-scorer in the history of Al-Nassr. Ronaldo scored a 7th-minute penalty to break the record of Morocco international Abderrazak Hamdallah with his 121st goal in just 136 games.
The goal also helped the 41-year-old striker to reach 965 goals in his glittering career. He is just 35 away from the magical figure of 1,000.
