New Delhi: The upcoming patriotic movie starring Sunny Deol, Batwara 1947, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, has reportedly passed the Central Board of Film
Certification (CBFC) without any edits.
The movie is set around the time of Partition and tells the story of a Muslim family in Lahore who meet an elderly Hindu woman who refuses to give up her family home.
Batwara 1947 cleared by the CBFC
News agency ANI quoted sources saying that the movie got its CBFC approval with no cuts at all. Now, with this censor approval, the Rajkumar Santoshi film is ready for its cinema release on August 14. Batwara 1947 is focused on a Mohajir family that moves to Lahore and stays in an empty Hindu house after the Partition.

Inspired by famous writer Asghar Wajahat’s play Jis Lahore Nai Vekhya, O Jamya E Nai, the story looks at an old Hindu woman who will not leave her home and the problems that happen between her and the new family. The film honours the close bond that forms between the two families while sharing a message of hope during one of the most painful times in human history.

Batwara 1947, which was earlier named Lahore 1947, stars Sunny Deol as the head of the Mohajir family, with Shabana Azmi playing a Hindu woman stuck in Pakistan who refuses to give up her family home.

The creators of Batwara 1947 recently shared a new poster for the movie and revealed its release date. The new poster shows an idol of Lord Krishna with a burning diya in front, set against the background of the 1947 Partition of India.

Along with the poster, the creators wrote, “When the world chose sides, HE chose dharma. Watch #Batwara1947 in cinemas this Partition Day, 14th August.”
Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, the movie is supported by Aamir Khan Productions. Besides Sunny and Shabana, the film features Preity Zinta, Karan Deol, Ali Fazal, Abhimanyu Singh, Khushi Hajare, and Kanikka Kapur. Batwara 1947 brings Preity back to acting after more than six years.
The soundtrack for the movie is created by AR Rahman, with lyrics written by Javed Akhtar.
