New Delhi: Seasoned Shreyas Iyer has received a condition clearance from BCCI’s Centre of Excellent in Bengaluru and could likely participate in Vijay
Hazare Trophy on January 6, mentions a report in ESPNcricinfo. Iyer has been working his way back to gaining full fitness after a spleen injury kept him out of action since October.
Iyer had to pass two match simulation sessions so as to get a clearance certificate from the Indian cricket board to participate in international assignments and domestic cricket. Iyer reported at the CoE on December 25 and passed his first match simulation session at the centre on January 2, Friday. His next session is set to take place on January 5 and post that, he was scheduled to receive clearance from the CoE as mentioned in the report, he has received a conditional clearance on January 3, Saturday.
Iyer in currently bat the rehab and coming up clearly with all his drills and match practice sessions. The right-handed batter is not experiencing any pain both pre-match and post-match and also not showing any signs of discomfort.

Shreyas Iyer has received a conditional clearance from BCCI’s Centre of Excellent in Bengaluru as he works his way back to full fitness following a spleen injury during India’s tour of Australia last October, and could feature in the next round of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. It has been further mentioned in the report that he has been given a green signal to feature for Mumbai in the ongoing VHT.
Iyer is most likely to feature in the sixth round of matches on January 6 in Jaipur – Mumbai play Himachal Pradesh – with the national selectors in attendance. Meanwhile, India’s squad for New Zealand series is set to be picked on Saturday and while there is a provision to pick Iyer subject to his fitness but the chances of the Mumbai batter being picked seem a bit bleak.
