New Delhi: OpenAI has already deployed two significant capabilities on their GPT-5 Pro model in the form of Real-Time Query Interrupt and Context Update
to help to increase the productivity of research and allow users to have more control. These functionalities allow users to edit or terminate responses in progress, re-contextualise, without launching the new generation. The update aims to reduce the time and effort incurred to accomplish long, complex projects, particularly among researchers, developers, and enterprise users who use GPT-5 to accomplish data-heavy or iterative tasks.
The new tools are suggested to address the increasing user demand of adaptive AI workflows (OpenAI). It is now possible to guide GPT-5 through a train of reasoning in real-time, introduce new information or corrections immediately, and eliminate the unnecessary restarts that make it more sluggish. According to the company, this upgrade will bring GPT-5 a step closer to the functionality of an actual research assistant, capable of dynamic dialogue and lifelong learning during a session.
You can now interrupt long-running queries and add new context without restarting or losing progress.

Real-time query interrupt
The Real-Time Query Interrupt feature enables the users to pause a response immediately and divert the attention of the model. This serves to conserve time when making long calculations or off-track results. Users no longer have to wait to get to a long completion and then intervene, clarify or rephrase the question and stray. According to OpenAI, this is a feature that is especially helpful for developers trying out prompts or analysts polishing reports generated by AI.
Context update
Context Update allows users to add or update background information during the conversation. It is an indication that GPT-5 Pro is capable of adapting to real-time new facts, datasets, or research directions. The context refresh is done in a seamless way where all the history is retained and in a manner that aligns to the current intent of the user. As an example, a scientific user can feed GPT-5 with the updated experiment results without uploading the former context, and research iteration becomes easier and quicker.
The update is indicative of OpenAI adopting GPT-5 Pro as a serious work tool, as opposed to a casual chat one. GPT-5 Pro will bridge the human-AI collaboration by incorporating real-time interaction with adaptive memory. These capabilities will initially be available to Pro subscribers, and enterprise access to them will be added later this year.
