New Delhi: The US and Iran finalised a peace deal after 107 days of fighting. The deal was announced by US President Donald Trump himself. He took to Truth
Social and declared that the peace deal with Iran was now complete. He congratulated all parties involved in the deal.
Trump announces opening of Strait of Hormuz
Apart from announcing the peace pact with Iran, Trump also declared that the Strait of Hormuz would open on Friday. He wrote on social media platform, Truth Social, “The Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete. Congratulations to all! I hereby fully authorize the toll free opening of the Strait of Hormuz, and, simultaneously herewith, authorize the immediate removal of the United States Naval blockade. Ships of the World, start your engines. Let the oil flow!”
The White House reposted his Truth Social post on X.
The Strait of Hormuz is a very important waterway. Around 1/5th of the world’s oil supply passes through the Strait and its closing had caused prices to spiral, around the world. The US-Iran peace deal would be signed on Friday in Switzerland.
The US President further described the agreement reached with Iran as a “Great Deal.” He said that it will bring peace and security to the entire region. He then praised himself for having finalised the deal with Iran, saying, “Many presidents have tried to make Peace with Iran, and all have failed before me. The Leaders of the Region have, for the first time, found a President who can help them achieve real Peace. With the opening of the Strait upon the signing of the Deal on Friday, for purposes of mine removal, oil will flow on both ends again for the Region, and the World!”
Pakistan and Qatar negotiated talks between US-Iran
The deal came after months of fighting. The war began on February 28, after Israel and the US jointly attacked Iran’s capital, Tehran. This was the second attempt of the US to make an agreement with Iran. The first one being when US Vice President JD Vance, flew to Pakistan’s Islamabad in April this year, to hold talks with Iranian negotiators. But after hours of talks, Vance and his team flew out without a deal.
This time the talks were being mediated by negotiators from Pakistan and Qatar. Initially they got a 2-week ceasefire, till April 8. This was later extended upto the completion of talks between US and Iran.
Meanwhile, following the deal, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, also took to social media to announce the peace deal. He said in a post on ‘X’, “Following intensive talks, we are pleased to announce that the Peace Deal between the United States of America and Islamic Republic of Iran has been REACHED. Both sides have declared the immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon.”

He thanked both the US and Iran for coming around for the peace agreement. He wrote, “We would like to thank the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran for their commitment to finding a diplomatic solution to the conflict.”
