New Delhi: Google has started rolling out a new feature called “Answer Now” in its Gemini app. It gives users quicker replies when they do not want to
wait for the AI to finish its full thinking process. This change comes at a time when Google is also updating how Gemini’s usage limits work. Instead of one shared limit, advanced models now have separate daily caps, making it clearer how often each model can be used.
Usually, when users select Gemini’s Thinking or Pro models, the app shows a visible reasoning phase before giving a final answer. This can take a few extra seconds because these models are designed to think more deeply and provide detailed responses. However, the “Answer Now” option allows users to skip this waiting time by tapping the button while Gemini is still processing, which gives a reply almost instantly.
When can the “Answer Now” feature be used
The button only appears when users are using the Thinking or Pro models. It does not show up on the Fast model, as that option is already built for quick responses. When “Answer Now” is pressed, Gemini displays a short message saying it is skipping in-depth thinking before generating the answer.
Google has clarified one important point: even when users choose “Answer Now”, Gemini does not switch to a different or lighter model in the background. The response still comes from the same model the user selected at the start.
Is the update live on all platforms?
The launch is taking place on Android, iOS and the web, and it is available for both free users and paid subscribers. Some users, especially on iOS, have noticed that certain labels still use older wording, which suggests the update is still being adjusted.
This feature is meant for users who usually prefer the higher-quality or more thoughtful answers from the Pro or Thinking models but sometimes need speed instead of depth. Earlier, the only options were to cancel the response or change the model. “Answer Now” gives users a middle option, a faster answer from a powerful model, just without the full reasoning step.
