Dehradun: The Char Dham Yatra 2026 is seeing remarkable enthusiasm among devotees at Shri Badrinath and Shri Kedarnath Dham.
According to Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath
Temple Committee (BKTC) President Hemant Dwivedi, more than 17.51 lakh devotees have visited both shrines till May 30. Of these, over 10 lakh pilgrims performed puja at Kedarnath, while more than 7.51 lakh devotees visited Badrinath.
Significant achievement of this year’s pilgrimage
Dwivedi described this as a significant achievement of this year’s pilgrimage. He said that under the guidance of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj, the Yatra is running smoothly. Coordinated efforts by the government, administration, and various departments have ensured better facilities, making the journey simple and convenient for devotees.
Weather challenges and safety measures
The BKTC President emphasized that while adverse weather sometimes forces temporary halts at certain stops along the Kedarnath route, the pilgrimage is never permanently stopped. Once the weather improves, the Yatra resumes as normal. He appealed to devotees to follow the instructions of the Meteorological Department and the administration, especially during rain or snowfall alerts.
On May 29 and 30, Dwivedi conducted an on-site inspection of Kedarnath Dham to review arrangements. He confirmed that a total of 1,751,780 devotees have visited both shrines so far—1,000,497 at Kedarnath and 751,283 at Badrinath. He praised the improved management and security arrangements, which have made the pilgrimage safer and more systematic.
Facilities for pilgrims
The administration has set up designated stops and shelters to protect devotees during adverse weather. Dwivedi urged pilgrims to halt only at these safe points when conditions worsen. Shuttle services, medical facilities, and crowd management systems are being strengthened to ensure smooth movement.
Faith and devotion
The surge in numbers reflects the deep faith of devotees in Baba Kedarnath and Shri Badrinath. Despite occasional rain, snow, and cold winds, pilgrims continue to arrive in large numbers from across the country. The atmosphere at both shrines is filled with devotion, chants, and prayers, making the Yatra a spiritually uplifting experience.
With more than 17.51 lakh devotees already visiting, the Char Dham Yatra 2026 is proving to be one of the most successful in recent years. The government and BKTC’s coordinated efforts, along with the cooperation of devotees, are ensuring that the pilgrimage remains safe, convenient, and deeply spiritual.
