Grammys 2026 Rosé and Bruno Mars: Rosé made history at the Grammy Awards 2026 by becoming the first K-pop solo artist to open the ceremony. The singer
took the stage alongsideBruno Mars for a high-energy performance of APT, instantly turning music’s biggest night into a global pop spectacle.
Before a single award was handed out, Rosé set the mood. The opening performance transformed the arena into a pulsing, club-like space, with the duo’s easy chemistry drawing loud cheers from the audience. As Mars introduced her with, “Ladies and gentlemen, big bad Rosie,” the moment felt less like an introduction and more like a declaration.
Rosé becomes first K-pop soloist to open Grammys
The performance marked a clear milestone for K-pop’s global rise. While Korean pop acts have featured at major US award shows before, Rosé’s opening slot signalled a new level of industry recognition. This wasn’t a guest appearance. It was centre stage.
APT, co-written by Rosé and inspired by a popular Korean drinking game, has emerged as her defining solo track. On the Grammys stage, the song bridged cultures with ease. The playful kiss on Rosé’s cheek from Mars just before the performance began added a personal, unscripted charm that quickly went viral.

The night carried added significance for the singer. Rosé entered the 2026 Grammys as a first-time nominee with three major nominations, including record and song of the year. It marked the first time a K-pop idol received nominations in the general field categories.
“I’m getting chills right now,” Rosé had said earlier this year while reflecting on the possibility of making history. “I think it’ll be a moment that proves to myself so many things that I grew up doubting.” She added that the recognition would mean far more than personal success, calling it “a moment of celebration for everyone who believes.”
More about APT
While APT didn’t win best pop duo or group performance, losing to Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande for Wicked, Rosé still dominated headlines.
Her solo momentum has been building steadily. After winning song of the year at the MTV Video Music Awards last year, APT spent 45 weeks on the charts, while her debut album Rosie debuted at No. 3 in the US.
