New Delhi: The Delhi Police will not be filing any case against a minor, who allegedly abused Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during a protest at Jantar
Mantar, said sources quoted by NDTV. The incident reportedly happened at Jantar Mantar, during the recent protests against the NEET paper leak, led by the Cockroach Janata Party.
The Noida Police had filed a Zero FIR against the girl. The complaint identified her as a 25-year-old woman. But later in a video message, the girl said that she was just 15-years-old and also claimed to have made the statements against the Prime Minister, “under the influence of others” present at the protest site.
The girl made the video after PM Narendra Modi on Friday night, put out a video on ‘X’ saying that he forgave those children who abused him during the anti-NEET paper leak protests. The girl thanked the PM for having forgiven her and said that “he really had a very big heart.”
Earlier in the week she had apologised to the PM. In another video she had said, “I am only 15 years old. Whatever I did was not worthy of forgiveness. I have said a lot of bad things. This is my first and last mistake. I apologise to the entire country. I am so ashamed. I can’t even look at myself. Please forgive me.”
As the video went viral and appeals were made for leniency, PM Modi put out the video on Friday saying that “he forgave the misguided youth who had unknowingly abused him.”
The PM also said that dragging these children to court or harassing them would not change the circumstances. He said, “I want to forgive them. I also want to request the society to accept what I am saying.”
However, even after the PM’s appeal, the minor had claimed on Sunday that the police continued to visit her house. She said that she was still being harassed.
Minor’s mother’s appeal to PM Modi
Apart from the 15-year-old, her mother had also appealed to the PM to get the FIR against her quashed. She was quoted as saying, “PM Modi has shown greatness by forgiving a daughter of the country who had used such dirty words. I thank him with folded hands. Today is her new birth. The prime minister has given her jeevandaan (a new life).”
She requested PM Modi to get the FIR against her daughter cancelled. She claimed that this complaint had been registered under the wrong name and age. She saif, “Now she is under your supervision.”
The girl’s mother also requested PM Modi to ban social media for minors. She requested the PM that Facebook and Instagram be banned for those under 18 years of age. She said that they should be allowed to only focus on their studies. The woman also requested that the minors should not be allowed at protest sites.
