The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has launched a new Digital Connectivity Rating Platform that will let consumers check how well a property is
prepared for mobile networks, fibre and Wi-Fi before they buy or rent it. The platform went live on September 25 and is part of TRAI’s framework for rating digital connectivity inside buildings.
The system brings property managers, registered rating agencies and consumers onto one digital platform. In practical terms, a homebuyer or office tenant will be able to search for a rated property and check its published connectivity rating, certificate and related details before making a decision.
What TRAI’s new rating platform does
Property managers can register residential, commercial, government and other properties on the platform. They can submit documents, select a registered Digital Connectivity Rating Agency and track the assessment.
The rating process covers both completed buildings and properties still under construction.
Registered agencies can use the system to carry out assessments, record test results and prepare rating reports. A separate mobile app will help authorised agencies test digital connectivity inside buildings.
The assessment framework looks at factors such as fibre readiness, mobile network availability, in-building connectivity systems and Wi-Fi infrastructure.
Consumers can check ratings before buying or renting
TRAI has added a public search page where users can look up rated properties using the property name, certificate ID or location.
Consumers can view digitally signed certificates and verify them through a QR code.
TRAI Chairman Anil Kumar Lahoti said, “The Digital Connectivity Rating Platform establishes a transparent and standardised framework for assessing the digital connectivity readiness of properties.”
He added that publicly searchable ratings could help consumers compare homes and offices based on connectivity.
The platform follows TRAI’s Rating of Properties for Digital Connectivity Regulations, 2024, along with amendments notified in May 2026 and the Rating Manual issued in June.
For buyers who have struggled with weak mobile signals or poor broadband coverage after moving into a building, the new rating system could make connectivity easier to check before signing on the dotted line.
