New Delhi: On their social media handles, Royal Enfield has dropped a short teaser of what looks like a new version of the Himalayan 450, seen riding through
mountain trails. From the looks of it, the company seems to be preparing a more off-road-ready version of the adventure bike.
Himalayan 450, which is mainly considered a riding bike for mountain trips, some riders have named this bike a bike for Ladakh. This shows its popularity and trust among the riders who are more interested in mountainous and off-roading routes. As a result, Royal Enfield has made several upgrades to it and made it a more off-road-focused motorcycle.
Expected hardware and specs on the off-road-spec Himalayan 450
This upcoming variant is expected to come with several upgrades compared to the standard Himalayan 450. It could include a full rally kit with a taller and flatter single-piece seat, new rear body panels, a redesigned tail section, and a larger touring windscreen. The bike is also likely to get an aluminium bash plate and engine guards for better protection on rough terrain.
To improve its off-road performance, Royal Enfield may give this version longer-travel, fully adjustable suspension and tubeless spoked wheels as standard. The engine, however, will remain the same, a 452cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder unit that makes 40.02hp and 40Nm of torque. In terms of looks, the rally edition could sport new colour options and minor visual tweaks to match its rugged purpose.
The bike will make its official debut tomorrow, 4 November, at the EICMA motor show in Milan. Royal Enfield is also expected to showcase it later this month at its Motoverse event in Goa, which will be held from 21 to 23 November.
Currently, the Himalayan 450 is priced between Rs 3.06 lakh and Rs 3.20 lakh (ex-showroom). The new off-road-focused version will likely be priced slightly higher.
